It's automated - and relies on someone who has just tested positive to enter the names and numbers of their household contacts. You're expecting the great unwashed to not make a mistake with a phone number?

Received via SMS:

"Kia ora [not my name], you are a COVID-19 Household Close Contact. You must self-isolate [blah blah blah, link to legitimate site]. If you have received this by mistake, please continue to follow current COVID-19 guidance."

That last sentence implies that they frequently send these to the wrong people...

Well they are relying on people who have tested positive to give them the information so yeah, would happen a lot. I still have people calling one of my numbers looking for a Jason who cant have had it for over 10 years now. Its almost like a number that expires and gets reassigned is a terrible identifier for a person..

You'd think there could still be a modicum of validation there. The MOH already has my number from my vaccination appointment so it would be trivial to say "this number's already been used by someone else; please double-check it".

But I appreciate that people don't know their details.

How would the MoH know, just because they've got your number, that you could therefore not be a household contact?

Sounds awful. Maybe KMart is trying to give online shoppers a taste of the in-store experience?

No, if they were to do that you wouldn't be able to find anything and then when you finally find someone to ask, they would say they would get someone else to help and just leave. Then it turns out that the stuff is hidden behind the customer service because they get stolen. Why people would steal lightbulbs I dont know.

My post wasn't as clear as it could have been. By "someone else", I meant the names don't match. But of course, then you run into the problem of people not being able to spell names correctly. I guess there's no ideal fix for this issue.

Noel Leeming via The Market - still haven't shipped my Good Friday order (I wasn't expecting it to be delivered by now, but it should have been shipped)

Even The Market thought it should have been shipped by now as they sent me an email advising that.

[Mod edit (MF) fixed typo in company name]

Thanks MF for the edit 😀

Reached out to their chat again yesterday - still no information to be shared.
Got annoyed, said I will cancel the TV and I hope my refund is processed soon, otherwise I will do a chargeback

Low and behold, all of a sudden the TV is being shipped from an alternative supplier to a shipping company and should be with me soon. (although no tracking can be provided because its too large .. or something)

I'll give them a week to get it to me.

All this because I tried to save 10% (less postage costs) over walking in to Noel Leeming or JB Hi Fi on the Easter trading days.
Never again

Stu: @neb it would be interesting to find out if you manage to locate a decent brush!

If anyone knows of any, let me know. The least awful I've found so far is Redback-branded, specifically this one, slightly shorter than the Black&Decker it's replacing but it looks vaguely acceptable.

Aaaaand... it's rubbish, not quite as bad as the various kid's toys carried by Bunnings/M10/Placemakers/etc, but the following photo speaks for itself:

Face masks. Definitely over them

Just now my phone rang so I put on my face mask instead of my headset.

The bottom one is a full sized brush that's had years of use in the workshop, the top is the dinky little thing that's the best I've managed to find to try and replace it.

See my earlier post on why that style isn't suitable, can't easily link to it at the moment due to posting from a phone.

Interesting - both at work and home we use the wooden ones I've linked to above - hard to argue they're pricey at $8.41. They seem to work just fine for sawdust - and I guess the solution to waiting for it to dry is to buy two...

They don't like swarf though, especially combined with coolant - but then, show me a brush that does.

Listening to an advert (again) for a local real estate agent on the radio - 'Let xxxx xxxx tell you why now is a good time to list your property...'

Cause, you know, he's ever going to have a talk that says - let me tell you why now is a really bad time to list your property...no, I don't want your commission, please just take it away...
