Good Omens . Prime.  If you enjoyed the book you will like this .  im just not sure why David Tennant is channelling Bill Nighy but it is annoying. Still 8/10

Years and years. BBC series following the UK over the next 30 years from now. Focuses on one family and what happens to them. Only watched one episode but seems very good in presenting a possible future. Explores the political, technological and political changes that happen as time progress and how the family and country changes

richrdh18:

Netflix:  Dead to me -  Good.

SOHO:  Chernobyl  - very good

Have watched 4 of the 5 episodes of Chernobyl - gritty, horrifying and riveting.

This got me reading further about the accident online. The wider story is really interesting too IMO - stuff that I had never really joined together before.

Mikhail Gorbachev had started talking quietly about glasnost and perestroika only just before Chernobyl because the Soviet Union was already failing and falling apart. The futile and failed attempts by Soviet bureaucrats below him to cover up the accident, and Russian public revulsion at those attempts once it became known, hastened the process of glasnost and perestroika. Chernobyl became a catalyst for the collapse of the Soviet Union which happened only six years later.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Watched the first 3 episodes of Handmaids Tale season 3 last night. I found it a little slow and tame compared to the first 2 series.

We are also watching The Red Line.

The Red Line Trailer

Sorry i could not figure out how to embed the video.

Staring Noah Wyle ( ER )

We are also watching ER from the beginning, we are up to S06, so many stars in the making, good to see the old technology too to see how far we have come.

Pleased the Handmaids Tale is back on.  Gripping and beautifully shot as usual.

Not sure what attracted me (wink) but in an evening of weakness succumbed to the incessant advertising on Netflix for Bonding.  A quirky but surprisingly heart warming comedy about a dominatrix.  Only a few short episodes.  Definitely not for the prudish, not that you see anything, it's just the situations.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Out of Australia, a weekly political show similar to "The Daily Show"

"The Weekly with Charlie Pickering" S05E12

Really good segment where an indigenous Australians breaks down why he hates the Australian national anthem.

Exceptional analysis.

Also mentions in passing "stolen wages"

https://australianstogether.org.au/stories-2/stolen-wages/

I know Kiwis aren't perfect, but Australia reminds me of the deep south USA in the 50's.

Designated Survivor is back on Netflix and I see they are now using the playbook from Shonda's productions - putting some social commentary in episodes so all the over the top, suspend believe stuff from Seasons 1 and 2 are gone now (just watch some Grey's Anatomy and you will see current social themes).

Will watch episode two to check but the first episode was a bit too over the top with comparisons with real world commentary.
