We had one called Sherpa. She liked climbing things.

I’ve suggested Mandu, Apault and Atonic for the next ones.

I've had one called Astrophe.

Currently Rexxi (as in WRX, my favourite rally car) has better grip and control than Pirelli (black cat).

Overly 'chatty' software. In this case, my car. I opened the window and it started beeping, with "Window Open" on the dashboard. Um, yes? I know; I just opened the thing!

That sounds a bit unusual, what were the circumstances surrounding it? You usually get a warning like that when you're about to drive off with one of the doors or the boot still open, why would it beep just from opening a window?

One of the neighbourhood cats, which spends a lot of time in other people's houses, is called Marshmellow.

If my owners named me fluffy sugarpuff I wouldn't be spending much time around them either...

That neither bunnings or mitre10 have functional searches on their website.

I want some screws. "6g" size (whatever the hell that means) and less than 12mm long because the 12mm ones punch out the other side of the flimsy workbench when I am attaching LEDs to the underside of it.

Searching 6g screw brings up lots of screws. So you would then expect a filter on length of the screw, but instead the sizes are all the size of the box on bunnings, and there is nothing on mitre10.

I cant even limit a search to a specific category on the site.

Its like the developers don't have to use the trashfire they have made or are not given enough budget to make it not suck.

I need pan head. Bunnings have 9mm ones that I found eventually. Couldn't see them on the shelf when I was there today but that doesn't mean much since they are in the process of moving everything around. Means getting the crap head that means I stab the driver bit into the wood more than actually putting screws in but at least I wont be having to sand the other side of the MDF top smooth. Will probably just pre do them part way with the mitre10 screws and then finish with the bunnings ones that are shorter.

Contrast both those sites with element 14 where looking for a speaker, connector, screw, case or anything like that with sizes, I get a whole lot of filters for all the parameters, able to sort by any of them, put minimum and maximums on things, see stock in a nice simple table view once in any category.

Sites like element14 are suppliers to professionals where they have to support multidimensional queries because buyers need to be able to distinguish between an STM32F401CDU6 and an STM32F401CDU6TR, but for Bunnings and M10 it'd be an insane amount of work to support multidimensional queries on hundreds of different product classes when 99.99% of their clientele will be looking for "some silicone that you can use in the bathroom" or "a screw, about this long. Um, I dunno, whatever works with the cross-shaped screwdrivers".

Assuming their product databases even record enough details to support multidimensional queries.

Remembering that there's still two blocks of Pavlidou Ygeias lemon chocolate in a kitchen cupboard saved for a special occasion, deciding that this will do, and realizing that it's... some time past it's sell/use-by date. And I know you can eat chocolate quite some time past that date, but this is past even that time.

There's also still a pile of salmiakki back there, but that stuff will survive the apocalypse. Mostly because even the flesh-eating zombies roaming the post-apocalyptic wasteland won't touch it.

The fact that so few NZ hotels embrace pet travel.

I just booked my wife a room at the Holiday Inn at Manchester airport. I noticed this in the booking page:

Pet Policy
No matter their size, weight or breed all dogs are welcomed. A pet fee will apply and must be paid in advance. Guide dogs and service dogs are permitted to stay free of charge.

I believe that's it's behaving correctly in the context of the software, and I'm just grizzling that the software hasn't been thought through very well.

I parked the car, opened the window, then turned off the car and opened the door. Beep beep beep. I can understand having a warning if you've left a passenger window open, but you're going to notice the driver window when you get out. Especially if you opened it less than five seconds prior :)

Annoys me that I don't know the difference between these types of screws and would likely buy an incorrect screw for a job, if I were doing one that required screws.
