Finch: Well that was disappointing.

Went to Wgtn Featherston St + Manners.

Featherston didn't have too many new discounts, nothing worthwhile anyway. I noticed some prices even went up!

I asked to see the Manners discount list, got told they don't have one......

Shelves very empty. I guess its too be expected, its not like there was going to be a $9 Ipad Mini left today :P

Was hoping to Grab Microsoft Office 2013 for $20 and potentially a Asus T100 Tablet for $99.

Oh well.

Each store only had like a couple of each thing if they had any at all. I think the staff are beginning to get a bit jaded too. There is no discount list today because overnight apparently nothing new was discounted - they might have still had yesterdays but that wouldn't have accurate stock amounts on them so is a bit pointless.

Manners st have a new 2TB desktop hard drive for $59, still a few $20 power packs but none of the $5 ones. Of course still loads of cases including some $10 smart cases for iPad airs. Also a number of printers around the $30 mark with original prices of $150 or so. But they are older models.

They also have a few discounted phones but they're customer returns so not in amazing condition. Many of them aren't actually on display since they're customer returns. There's an iPhone 64gb 6Plus for $949 apparently although I don't know what condition it is in or if they still have it.

No kindle paperwhites at my local store. Managed to get a standard one for $29 though. If anyone has a surplus paperwhite then let me know. I'm very keen to track one down :)

I thought $99 for a 4TB desktop HDD was pretty good, which is why I got one.

dolsen: Sony a6000 for $599, save $700

Score!!!  Which store?

I think any store that has it available; my local (Palmerston North) has two of them in stock (one being held for me - think I'll buy it as I can't turn it down at that price).

The Sony A5000 is also on special, down to $499.

There was also an old-model Nikon D-SLR down to $150 from $450.

Yep - comes with the 16-50 lens (http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=2503442) - cheapest 'standard' retail price is $1049 at JB for this.

Very impressive, pity they haven't got any in sunny Whakatane.

Not sure what I am missing here?  Went into the Te Rapa Hamilton store this morning and the normal half-empty shelves and sale prices that really aren't.  Couldn't identify anything worth getting even slightly excited over.

Went to manukau store today, hardly anything seemed to be discounted.  they were still selling 30cm usb -> microusb cables for $30.  No wonder they are going out of business.

waste of time, I did pick up 2 kids ps3 games for $15, but other than that, waste of time.  their sale prices were other stores normal prices.

You won't regret it.
I paid $980 for mine a couple of months back and I'm still chuffed with it at that price.

Most stores haven't had prices up - you literally had to ask the sales people for the items you wanted...
The only store that seemed to be pricing their products was KRoad in Auckland.

... or possibly Dicked?

As I said earlier, Private Equity can be a grubby business. Very interesting story but it could be that Anchorage have not actually done anything wrong - legally that is. Morally probably very dodgy but maybe not illegal - just taken all the hapless float investors for a ride.

Think Feltex.

Have a read of this...
There were warnings, but many mum and dad investors only knew of Dick Smith from when it was owned by its namesake.
I remember a retailer warning a group of us that many people were going to lose their money, and most of them wouldn't be able to afford the hit. He described it as an empty pot, and it looks like he was on the money.

With the sale prices being quoted in this thread, I suspect DSE is on borrowed time. Probably selling stock below cost because their immediate concern is cash flow. Doesn't look to be sustainable.
