@MikeB4:

To get a call from my Doctor to tell me that my new drug treatment has been given special approval by Pharmac and will also be part funded by the drug company. Best Christmas present I could get and light has finally turned on at the end of the tunnel. This news made me cry as maybe I will get through this.

This is good news.

@freitasm it is very good news. This year has been hell for myself and my ever supportive wife. It is a gift for her as well.

When a scientific study on nutrition and health comes up with "significant findings" that don't impart fear and guilt, nor condemn you to eating only wholemeal gruel washed down with organic kombucha:

1) Cheese, by far, was shown to be the most protective food against age-related cognitive problems, even late into life;

2) The daily consumption of alcohol, particularly red wine, was related to improvements in cognitive function;

3) Weekly consumption of lamb, but not other red meats, was shown to improve long-term cognitive prowess; and

4) Excessive consumption of salt is bad, but only individuals already at risk for Alzheimer’s Disease may need to watch their intake to avoid cognitive problems over time.

Source: https://www.research.iastate.edu/news/isu-study-indicates-diet-may-help-reduce-cognitive-decline/

Disclaimers: Correlation causation. Nope - I haven't read the paper. Yes - I like cheese, red wine, and lamb (with a sprinkle of salt)

Browser update logged me out of a few websites on Friday. I went to log back in to Facebook and the site said "You haven't logged in with this browser before, we'll send you a code" The code didn't turn up in 10 mins or 10 hours. Their other options were to log in with a browser I have used before (sorry, only use this one) or get a code from the "code generator" that is apparently in the mobile app (I've never used the app, can't imagine the rigmarole involved with trying to install/log in to that for the first time).

And with that, I think I'm done with Facebook.

Ge0rge: And with that, I think I'm done with Facebook.

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light, and he could see Facebook. And God said "bugger this, I think I'm done with Facebook and I haven't even got around to morning and evening yet".

My wife and I were saying only yesterday just how complex and irritating modern life has become "to protect you" or "for your safety" etc etc.

Old Testament - God visits about every other page in some form.

New Testament - turns up in person

Now - nowhere to be seen for thousands of years. Why? Facebook. He has created another world somewhere instead and labelled social media as "do not repeat"!

Naah, God's on smoko and unfortunately while he's not watching the other guy is busy creating stuff.
