That little rattle that's just started somewhere behind the dashboard.

Use of the inelegant "Death Notices" instead of "Obituaries".

Even worse, if such notice uses euphemisms such as "after brave battle", certain desperados are very likely to have a go at raiding the house of the deceased in the hope of finding leftover supplies of morphine sulphate tablets/syrup, while everybody is at the funeral.  They'll tend to clear out anything else of value they can find during their visit.

Jeez. Do those people even read newspapers?

Unfortunately so.  I guess the constant fear of running short of what they need is strong motivation.

Having to buy PC games as physical discs from retail stores.  Why don't they offer just activation cards so i can download from home?

eg, the latest BF1 game is 5 discs.   I suppose I could have tried to activate then download but the install process steers you to install from the disc -- which takes much longer than downloading.

How times have changed .

[edit] and the reason i buy from a store is because the online steam / origin price is MUCH higher than buying physical discs.   What a twisted situation, why do game makers even use brick/mortar to distribute?  Because not everyone has fast internet of course but why?

Try using the US steam store instead. Much cheaper normally.

Also I have allways just done the add a game thing in steam and put the code in. Dont even have anything to put obsolete round shiny trinkets into on any PC except an antique dell laptop that I use to read the silly discs that come with chinese hardware that never give you download links.

haha, bf1 is 5 discs.

Origin price was too high.

Another grizzle about software. I just installed OneNote and the first thing it does is ask for your email address. I entered it, then clicked Next. It then goes to a second window with separate boxes for email address and password. I enter my password and am told that it's incorrect. I then realise that I'd entered the wrong email address. I correct it, re-enter the password, and get "incorrect" again. I retype both in case I made an error. Incorrect. I then log into my MS account via a browser and it works fine, so I know that i'm entering the details correctly.

The solution was to go back to step 1 and correct the email address there. Although the field on the second page is writable, it seems that it ignores whatever you type there and always uses whatever you entered on the first page!

I've always thought that Durex missed a trick here.

Durex-branded yellow car signs saying "No Baby Onboard"!

Things that should be simple in this day and age and yet are not.

Such as sharing in real time between a Google calendar on an Android phone and Apple Calendar on a Mac. I cannot find a way to do that live.

You can transfer info one way. You can permanently move from one to the other. But run both at the same time, on different devices, and have the same up to date info in both? No, can't find a way to do that yet!

Can put men on the moon and rovers on Mars though....

My small annoyance for holiday weekend was trying to buy garden stuff on Saturday.

Wanted several matching planter boxes with matching trays. Mitre 10 Mega, Bunnings stock these things.  The first two stores didn't have enough stock, one had boxes by no trays, the other had trays, but not boxes the right colour.  Find out that another Mega store had stock, so go there.  No stock on the shelf, except that standing back about 25 metres, they did have stock on the very top shelf - I can see it clearly.  Assistant tells me that I'm wrong - can't be what I think, as all the stock should be on the lower shelf.  I ask him to step back and look, and he agrees that I just might be right.  "Lets take a look" I say.  "OK" he says " "but I'm not allowed to get up there, need to get the guy with the licence to drive the 'wave' (electric mobile platform thing).  Wait 20 minutes for guy with license to drive the "wave" arrive, but he can't get it around the corner, as there are pallets in the way.  He was in demand apparently - so simply buggered off elsewhere, leaving me standing next to the assistant who remained unconvinced that the stock on the top shelf is what I think it is.  I spot a large stepladder - woohoo.  Assistant tells me that he's not allowed to use it.  I volunteer - knowing fully what the response will be.  Need to find a supervisor who's allowed to use a ladder, assistant buggers off and arrive back 5 minutes later with supervisor who wasn't in a very happy mood.  I make little joke with him, asking if he could show me his license to operate the ladder, but he didn't seem to think it was funny, made some comment about you must be joking, which I needed to confirm.  Shift all customers away from danger zone, fence off aisle, supervisor climbs up and grabs the things. shifts away all the safety devices, ladder, reopens aisle, hands me trays. Yay - I'm almost done.  Customer standing next to me is looking at a nearly empty shelf, wanting similar but different colour planter boxes, but there are trays only on the lower shelf, asks supervisor if they've got any matching boxes.  Supervisor says no - all our stock is on the lower shelf.  I couldn't resist telling the customer that there were plenty on the top shelf (I could see the things), supervisor was really not very happy at all.

TL:DR version
Customer "service" at the Mitre 10 mega stores I visited really sucked.
These "mega" style warehouses in NZ truly suck.

That is a symptom of our times, I fear, not specific to any one mega-dump. Fortunately I don't work in such a place, but if I did I might be inclined to post an annoyance about difficult customers who demand actual service.

Thats a pity.Is it endemic at that store? Ive always found them very helpful. They seem to have a very cruisy job.
