One deal I noticed on the DSE website was photocopy paper is only $2 per 500 sheets, and good quality fuji xerox brand. Looks like you can buy online and pickup instore. The cheapest it is normally is $5, so quite a big saving.

http://www.dicksmith.co.nz/ink-toner-paper/fuji-xerox-everyday-paper-a4-dsnz-xp1105

A3 is also only $2, normal price $27, which is a great deal.

This was really interesting to read

Thanks for the link, that was really interesting. Im off to my 8 - 5 tomorrow and these guys make 1/2 billion dollars appear out of nowhere...just doesn't seem right somehow.

Also remember that the 8-5 workers are the ones that would have put money into the stocks that are now worth very little.

dolsen: Sony a6000 for $599, save $700

Score!!!  Which store?

I think any store that has it available; my local (Palmerston North) has two of them in stock (one being held for me - think I'll buy it as I can't turn it down at that price).

The Sony A5000 is also on special, down to $499.

There was also an old-model Nikon D-SLR down to $150 from $450.

Do you get a lens with that ? The A6000 I mean.

Yep - comes with the 16-50 lens (http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=2503442) - cheapest 'standard' retail price is $1049 at JB for this.

Very impressive, pity they haven't got any in sunny Whakatane.

Apparently Featherston St. still have one.  It's on hold for me until 12:00 today (07/12) as I was looking to buy on behalf of someone else but that's not going ahead so it should be back on the shelf in just over an hour.

Auto-correct is why I have crust issues.

I am pretty annoyed at Dick Smiths, because they are now choosing not to honour advertised deals on their website. I purchased a few reams of paper, which is clearly still advertised on their website at http://www.dicksmith.co.nz/ink-toner-paper/fuji-xerox-everyday-paper-a4-dsnz-xp1105 . Went through the entire purhcase process, entered credit card details, and selected click and click instore. But they called me to say they couldn't supply it, and didn't offer a raincheck or anything. I mean it is a normal brand of paper so it is easily sourced. This deal is also still being advertised. There website is full of other dead links to 404 pages etc, so I suspect there are major problems. It is the sort of thing that should be reported, but it isn't worth the effort.
I did try putting through another order just now, and it now says the product isn't available for click and collect from the store I initially selected, but it is available for click and click from another store. But if that is the case, why don't they just move it between the stores, especially as they are the ones who made the error. It is poor management at the very least, resulting in poor customer service.

Did you purchase online?
If so that's really bad as there are still stores showing stock!

Yeap all done online. It also showed  it was available for click and collect from the store I selected, when the order took place. I am not sure if they have charged my credit card either. But it looks like other stores have it in stock, unless they are also giving false stock readings. I am going to put in another order but for another store to see if the same thing happens.

Well yes we know at least one stock-take was fiddled with to make them look profitable....

I just went into Featherston St and they didn't have any left in store so must have turned your unwanted one over pretty quickly. They are getting one in from Rotorua for me for an extra $5.

Dick Smith took another $60m stock right down hit today.  For a publicly listed company they are in poor financial shape.

What does that mean for us consumers?

They go bust and just sell all the stock they have and call it quits?

Because it's uneconomic to move it between stores(even in the same city) when they are already losing on it.

Although that is there problem, because they made the error. I was infact told on Sunday, when they first rung me that they were going to get it in from another store. If they have decided it is now not worth them to do this, then they deserve the flack they get for  bad customer service. Poor customer service is possibly one reason people don't like to shop there. It isn't the first time I have had problems with bad customer service with that company.

Which is probably why they charged me a $5 fee to ship the a6000 camera from Rotorua. I just hope they don't lock the doors for good before it gets here! Selfish, I know, but...
