Ok, clarifying...

Midnight Diner: Tokyo stories (which had two seasons so far) was made for Netflix. 8/10.

What Netflix has released now is not a third season of MD:TS but the three original seasons of the Japanese Midnight Diner series which inspired the MD:TS (with same actors but a backstory that explains a lot of MD:TS). So now I have 26 episodes (out of 30) to go. 8/10.

Alex Rider on TVNZ OnDemand series based on the 12 or so books of the same name. IMDb rating = 7.3 and I am giving it a 7 after 2 episodes. Keep in mind this is Late Teen-Young Adult genre. Don't look too closely at the lazy plots and continuity. Very easy on the grey matter. It has all the latest tech and cars.

It has been described as James Bond as a teenager.

@FineWine: thanks for the heads-up; while you say 'late teen', what's the youngest age you think it's suitable for? I see it's rated 'M' by TVNZ.

My oldest son (close to 13) has read many of the books and as a family we have listened to many of them as audiobooks in the car, but often visuals (compared to the written or spoken word) can be more disturbing...

(spoilers ahead)

You could squeeze in a PG13 though I would tend towards PG15. Depending upon the maturity of your son.

Episode 1 - There is a point blank (no pun intended) gun shot death.

Episode 2 - Has a capture and mild torture scene - Alex Rider is tied to a chair and extremely loud Metallica music is played, (that's torture in my books 😀) then he is drenched in a directly aimed water deluge sprinkler system. Two adults, the torturers, argue over the morality of torturing a minor.

Episode 3 - Has a group of spoilt upper class A/hole late teens in a human man hunt of Alex Rider with real bullets plus a suggestive sexual innuendo scene. (I might be prudish here)

But Alex Rider is also a 'Kick Arse" fighter.

You could ague the violence is no worst than the Hunger Games or Mace Runner and some of the DC/Marvel movies. Though the thought concepts, morals & ethics, are for older teens I believe.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Just finished Space Force on Netflix.

Definitely enjoyable but not fantastic, solid 6.5/10 for me.

My 3rd time watching the Californication series. Up to start S6, so getting a bit sad its coming to an end again.

Not much of a TV series person, but this is by far one of my favourites.

I didnt like David as an actor in Xfiles (although not my kind of thing) but think he suits this role perfectly, by the sounds of it, it seems very close to his real life personality.

Hes actually quite a handy singer. Listened to four of his bands songs on youtube, pretty good, not super range but holds key very well, a crooner type sound I guess. But the young guys in the band are also pretty good.

'Little Boy Blue' on ITV Hub. Four-episode UK mini-series based on a true story about the shooting of an 11-year-old boy when he was at soccer practice and the subsequent police investigation. Excellent.

Alright. I finished the Pacific. Thanks to the FF button I skipped through the opening credits and saved myself 40 minutes over 10 episodes.

It was similar to Band of Brothers in that it was a very gritty 'mud in your foxhole' kind of look at war, based on real characters and incidents.

Quite enjoyable but I enjoyed it without the missus as she prefers other content.

I've also recently watched Hacksaw Ridge (again) and Hamburger Hill so I feel I should be due for some kind of medal.

Since I'm on a combat streak I'm going to watch Flags of our Fathers, Apocalypse Now and Salvador, all of which I have been meaning to watch for years.

Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21

For All Mankind (Apple TV+) - 6/10

I love movies and TV shows about the space race, especially the 60s era manned spaceflight programme. I've watched Apollo 13 more times than I can remember, and was fortunate enough to find a copy of From the Earth to the Moon last year, and I've rewatched that many times. So when I finally got around to checking out my free 1 year sub to Apple TV+, the only thing I saw that piqued my attention was For All Mankind.

It's a counter-factual (i.e. alternate history) story about the Apollo space programme - where the Soviets beat the Americans to the moon landing by a month. I've only seen the first episode so far, and honestly I nearly fell asleep. It felt quite depressing, but maybe that's what they're going for - all the characters are bummed out because they lost the moon race. However, none of the characters really grabbed me, which really should be job one for a new show. Production values are reasonably high, I guess, but that's about the best I can say at this stage.

I'll probably watch the next episode when I get a chance, but it hasn't made me rush back for a second helping.

Started watching The Office (US) from the start. Never watched it before and can't believe I haven't. So hilarious specially considering I have pretty much every character at my work (of course I am Jim).

I am really enjoying...

The Great : an occasionally true story of Catherine the Great of Russia. Don't watch if you can't handle loads of gratuitous swearing done in that classy way that only the British can pull off.

Bodyguard : the tensest TV show I have ever seen. 2 episodes in and I am googling "valium".

Apple Shares Teaser for Upcoming Apple TV+ Series 'Foundation' includes trailer

I can not wait for this series. I have the entire series in paper back including Prelude to Foundation and The Second Foundation trilogy by Gregory Benford, David Brin and Greg Bear.

The first series is huge, I hope they do it justice.
