Not a headline, but a bit of a gripe about behaviour.

I've noticed a few articles recently where the media seem to have gone out of their way to identify someone/something against the express wishes of the individual(s) concerned.

Example:

In an article about someone who's house just burnt down, the article says "The homeowner, who asked to not be named, said..."; but towards the end of the article continues "the woman's business, <INSERT NAME HERE>, posted on social media...."

I really think that's a bit on the nose - if the people wish not to be identified, then don't go posting all their related identification detail(s).

If I was involved, there'd definitely be a complaint laid ASAP....

The business owner chose to post publicly on FB. I doubt that any complaint would succeed.

Yeah - he'll be p*ssed because he has now has no excuse for not being there.

This makes it sound like she made it as a unilateral decision without consulting him.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Today's Stuff quiz asked about an idiom and which language it was from. The answer list contained countries, not languages.

Not a headline, but the last sentence in this article.

"New Zealand has two official languages - te reo Māori and Sign Language."

That is correct. English is the most widely spoken but is not an official language.

"Most people are probably under the impression that English is an official language of this county, however it was removed in 1987, when Te Reo Maori became an official language.

English has remained a de-facto official language since then. It is accepted as such within legalese.

NZ First MP Clayton Mitchell was involved in a push to recognise English alongside Te Reo Maori and Sign Language. The bill is still under consideration."

Huh... well that's mental then.

NZherald today

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/covid-19-coronavirus-death-of-new-zealander-after-vaccine-reported-no-direct-link-established/XFOJEFE45BIBTD5YUZVT746FDQ/

Covid 19 coronavirus: Death of New Zealander after vaccine reported, no direct link established

So... to summarize the article - Someone died today.

They could have also titled it "Person died some years after being born".

Yeah, but you clicked on it, so did a lot of others = $ from Ads!

Someone also got up, someone yawned etc = All headlines yet to come, or have they been? Journalism certainly isn't what it used to be.
