When a what is sold as a pint is not a pint ... (i.e. 568mls)
HAHAHA... A "Pint" in South Australia is 425ml
Does my head in!

MikeB4: The terrible variable road surface on the newly opened Kapiti Expressway
Is it true that some of it is chip seal?
It's a patch quilt mess of chip seal and various grades of tarmac. It's going to be a nightmare on the winter and surface will pot hole and break up very fast. An absolute disgrace that will need resurfacing within 12 months
Typical. I remember the mess that was Mackays Crossing, and the Waikanae to Peka Peka passing lanes. And the work they still needed. IMHO Goodmans need to learn how to build roads for the 21st century. :(
Sandflies.
Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

This is par for the course, is it not? The road outside our house is usually re-done every other year and goes something like this:
1) dig out bad parts and fill with cheap aggregate with too many fines in.
2) Leave alone for 4 weeks so that passing traffic flicks out all the aggregate
3) Re-do the filling of the now empty holes
4) Dig out a random portion of the roadside ditches
5) Re-surface with the cheap and shoddy chip seal
6) Allow passing motorists to brush the spare chips off with their paintwork and windscreens
7) Have no white lines for 2 months because the road contractor does not provide end to end service, so you need yet another company to do the lines and they are busy somewhere else
8) Come back in 2 months to replace the parts that have fallen apart because you did the job in such a slapdash, cheap, she'll be right way in the first place....
9) Rinse and repeat....
There is a corner up by the NZ fake Stonehenge that has been a scene of almost constant roadworks for about 2 years now...! To quote Blackadder when explaining something to Baldrick "The ape creatures of the Indus have mastered this!" so I have no idea why road building here is apparently so challenging. I've driven on better roads in many much less developed nations.
Making councils liable for the damage their work causes to our cars would be a good start.

Windows explorer desktop search, and how it seems to default to 'content view'... who even uses that view?
Why is there not an option to set the default of search to details view for all future searches?
And, the 'date' column!! That is rubbish and slow to load for lots of files. Why don't they default to 'date created' or 'date modified'. At least they tell you what the date applies to, "Date" means nothing in particular. Is it date created or modified or mayben even someones birthday perhaps.
Windows niggles!!!!
The people who write this software don't seem to actually use it.
The big, fat, sloppy, loving fur dispenser who for some unfathomable reason insists on stretching out on my keyboard and mouse pad. With all the fine hair stuffed down every opening, I am amazed anything still works at all.

Have you tried changing the view style to your preferred one then CTRL+SHIFT when closing the search window?
In any case, add to that list of Windows niggles the scroll no longer working in Win7 when you only hover over the Explorer folder tree - you must click in there to get it to work. Or use something like X-Mouse.

In the last week we have driven along the Waikato and Northern Gateway Expressways and they have very good surfaces. Both have smooth consistent surfaces.
They do. However they amount to what about 0.01% of the total roads?

Watching an old TV show on a legal streaming site. They've managed to crop a whopping 48% of the picture. A bit of it would've been covered with overscan in the CRT days, but 48% is just ridiculous.
When you are going through the click-clacks on the way into the supermarket and the person in front of you stops as soon as they get out of the click-clacks leaving you stuck in the click-clacks.
