How do you align them? You don't really have any control over when they won't turn any further.

Once you've tightened to the point it goes spongy, you can turn it to any orientation you like.

Unless the timber is very hard there's enough give that you can turn until it's tight enough then another 1/4 turn or so to get alignment. You don't have to keep turning until you can turn no more - risks breaking or stripping the screw especially when working with brass.

Ongoing issues surrounding the City Rail Link project in Auckland - NZH story today.

"VINCI Grand Projects - the French contractor leading the Link Alliance that is building the CRL - is sending senior executives from France on December 12 to meet with City Rail Link Ltd."

I hope VINCI don't find out that someone took out too many bolts all at once - again.

Watching Brits v BCs test on TVNZ+. Some sort of match info flashes up in the lower LH corner of the screen - then disappears after about 1 sec, before you get a chance to read it.

Scrubbed back twice to see it - still didn’t get time to register it and read it. Gave up. Annoying.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

A stone. Normally I don't object to such things. But when it is propelled rapidly into my house via a closed window, it annoys me.

No idea how it came to be a projectile. I don't (yet) have a camera on that side of the house and none of the existing cameras could see any movement from other sides of the house. Got the exact time it occurred though thanks to the handy audio on the inside camera. Unfortunately it cannot see out through the net curtains as they blitz out compared to inside.

Since I don't believe that I've upset anyone lately, I can only assume it was not specifically targeted for me and more of a deliberate accident. Thinking someone a block away using a slingshot or something and just launching things in the air with zero thought about their potential landing zone.

The final turns are done sensitively by hand. This is less easy with a cordless screwdriver, even with the slipping clutch set. However, I use Torx exclusively.

Yep, smashed through the window. If a bird managed to launch the stone sideways through the window with enough force to make it go right through the glass, I'd be very impressed.

Did you hear any neighbours on that side lawnmowing?

I have had a garden shed window broken by an idiot in the house 2 doors up. She was throwing stones at birds in a tree on her section with no regard for where the misses went.

Any chance it was flicked out by a lawn mower being used nearby? This happened to our neighbour recently - broke a 2.5x2.5m double-glazed ranch slider window.
