freitasm: "How dare these aeroplanes make noise over my house. The house I bought two years ago near an airport that has been here for 60 years" - someone, probably.

Almost everyone who land-banked near Dairy Flat airfield [*].  Seriously:

  1. Buy up all the cheap farmland around an active airfield.
  2. ???
  3. Profit!

[*] A couple of people bought the land to build right next to the airfield for easy access, but most didn't.  They've spent years now complaining about the airfield and trying to get it shut down.

Goosey: Annoying how people harp on about 15min cities.

Harping on in what way?  There seems to be two types of coverage, the first pointing out that it'd be nice if cities had things locally available (most European cities) and not a huge long drive away in some impersonal strip mall (most US cities).  The reason its become a thing recently is because of the trend for new build areas to follow the US model (think any new subdivision in Auckland), if it wasn't for that no-one would ever have heard of 15-minute cities, it'd just be "cities".

The second is whatever loony conspiracy theory the far right has turned it into, I can't imagine how you'd turn "keep things local" into a conspiracy theory but they've managed it.

This afternoon (Cyber Monday) I renewed my annual subscription for Kogan mobile, at the usual price (no discount was offered).

One hour after receiving the voucher code, I was offered it at 20% less!   😠

Sump plug washer.
Got a car back from a reasonably expensive service and it dripped oil on the driveway. When the garage reinstalled the sump plug the washer wasn’t seated properly and leaked. In the waiting room now as they re do it.

This could possibly just be me. But. Its 20 degrees at the moment, so it would be nice if I could actually feel warm.

No doubt you are charged for a new washer every time. They probably reused the old one once too often. Some are crush washers like a sparkplug has, some are copper that work harden. I used to anneal copper washers by heating cherry red on gas hob and dropping into cold water.

Yes Bung I’m pretty sure it’s a copper washer that gets chewed up on install and removal and absolutely must not get re-used. Grrr.

Sorted now. The washer was drawn into the threads and pinched. Removed, the threads cleaned out with a thread chaser. New washer installed. The plug fits into a conical seat on VW/Audi/Porsche V6 diesels so the washer is deformed into it. Bad design.

It's stoopid degrees here at the moment, perhaps you could send me some of your 20 degrees and I'll send you some heat in return.  Please specify FTP, fax, or Bittorrent.

It depends on which part of the country you're in right now, and if you live near a coast or inland.

Sanitarium stops making peanut butter

Sod it..other peanut butters are loaded with salt and sugar, and the nuts from China can have issues .

The "Home Brands" by supermarkets are particularly bad (about 10% added sugar) ....we got one as a "swapped" item with our pick up order and its garbage.

They're positively tame compared to the nuts from the US, but that's for a different forum.

The fact that it seems to be some union requirement for the drivers on the 120 bus to not run the AC on what is in effect a giant metal can in the sun.
