Beko have a huge range of products, I got one because it was not stainless or white, and had an ice maker in it and was the cheapest - works great other than the plague of a white LED display on it that now has many dimmed segments.

Friend got the cheapest upright beko fridge/freezer - total piece of crap that will stress out and have the temperature spike because you put 3 trays of drinks into it and it cant move enough cold into the fridge part.

As I said, the results vary greatly from model to model, manufacturer and manufacturer. And the expected electricity costs are accumulated. These and breakdowns usually more than eat up the favourable price. That doesn't mean you can't get lucky with these things.

I feel I've mentioned this before, but emails begging for reviews after a purchase. No, I see no reason to give a star rating to an inert metal rod that I bought recently!

Bat you can review about how slow they were to send the order out if it was packed like a child did it.

It was a pick-up order so no complaints there. The only reason it was an order in the first place is because they didn't have one in stock in the size I needed.

Eva888:

...

Sydney airport Qantas gate 60. They have cleared both Qantas gates of seating so you have to sit a long way back in gate 59. When they call the groups no one can hear or understand the muffled announcements that don’t reach the other gate, nor see the board that has which group number is boarding, so everyone swarms up closer and stands around creating more confusion.

Wonder what genius thought removing seating at a gate was a practical idea. Especially since there were three overseas flights code-sharing and some very tired passengers from a long flight.

We experienced the same issue at SYD a couple of weeks back.

Go to the gate when the boards tell you to go, then they mumble into the PA calling people to board.

Hardly anyone hears them, so everyone goes and queues up to get on.

Then, for the first time I've ever seen, they enforce the Rows they've called for boarding, meaning a heap of people clogging up the entrance to the queue who are waiting for the mumbled announcement that they can now board.

Another thing at SYD - hardly any of the power outlets work in the waiting area down by gates 58/59/60. Moved around a few seats and tables until I found one I could charge my nearly dead phone at.

Eva888: Vertigo after a flight. Is this a thing? Good reason not to bend down to unpack suitcases though.

I get a floating feeling after short flights like I'm still in the air. Longer flights add minor sleep deprivation, bad coffee,  partially acceptable meals and timezone modifiers to make it worse. I think it is.

Mighty Ape's website is still appallingly bad. From the home page click Games > PlayStation > New Releases, and you get a list of 61 items, only 1 of which is a game (well, 2, but the other one is a board game).

Edit: And the game that does appear, Rise of the Ronin, is more than a year old.

We came home through Sydney Airport a few weeks ago and were very unimpressed with the place.

Garbled unintelligible announcements. Boards said "now boarding" but everyone getting turned away from the gate.

Overall, a most unprofessional outfit!

Eva888: Fridge is a Beko. Spare one in the laundry. I did notice on the day we were leaving that the upper fridge had frozen a few things near the bottom, but thought maybe I had too much in it and some was touching the back wall. Rearranged it before we left. Obviously it was a different issue.

Many of the symptoms mentioned earlier sounded like some combination of bad motor start and bad seal. During the heavy weather period I had some pretty bad weird power. The lights and tv worked. The fridge refused to start. Even the bathroom fan refused to start. Motors will sometimes remain in that condition until restarted assuming some other failure does not occur. Now, fans. Fridges, that rely on fans will fail when the fan ices up, while remaining cold to an extent. That issue itself can be a symptom of auto defrost element failure. Ie; after a good manual defrost and drip collector path clean it may work again until the next ice up. The developing ice pack can bend things out of shape which doesn't help either. Best case after a manual defrost and seal clean up it will work and need no further attention. Worst case some combination of seals, auto defrost element, drip drain blockage, fan.

Apple really annoys me. Now I get a limited-time free subscription offer for Apple Music and Apple TV+ almost every day. Have I restricted their tracking so much that they don't realise I have my own servers for this kind of thing? 😈

Predicted rainfall for last 2 hours, about 5mm, recorded rainfall for last 2 hours about 2.5mm. Actual rainfall for last 2 hours (so far) about 55mm. Yes, ok, it does say 'possibly heavy'...
