Started watching Foundation.

I have been looking forward to this for a long time.

God, it's so slow! Typical Asimov stuff...grand of vision, lacking of pace. Although it does have pace - Lee Pace. He's thoroughly unlikeable as the Emperor. As he's meant to be.

i'll give it a chance as it's slated for 986 episodes over the next 15 years, but dear lord, it's slow. And it's about mathematics! Just give me a light sabre duel and have done with it.

Agree with the foundation comments above, and then when there was a battle, the other side didn’t fire back.

Only two episodes in so hopefully picks up. Is visually stunning on OLED.

Vigil - IPlayer - 2/10

Woeful, paint by numbers with a range of typecasted UK actors. Some of the scenarios they found themselves in were just plain ridiculous. We gave it three episodes but that was enough.

Sex Education - Netflix - 7/10

As funny as previous series but right from the off the relationships were are a little "will they wont they" which was a shame.

Schitts Creek - Netflix - 8/10

We tried this some time ago but didn't get past ten minutes, but our daughter convinced us to try it again. We ended up watching and enjoying the whole lot. It had some genuinely LOL moments and my wife (who hates US comedies) really enjoyed it.

Time - IPlayer - 8/10

Only three episodes I think but really thought provoking and well acted.

I gave Vigil a thumbs-up in an earlier post, after having watched one or two episodes. I’ve changed my mind and agree with you. Now up to E5 and the thing I find most preposterous about it is the whole premise that a civilian cop would be permitted to temporarily go aboard a nuclear sub (dropped in by helicopter, no less) to investigate a crime while the sub is on active duty. Not to mention all the silly plot twists that ensue.

Pretty ridiculous really.

Last night I had to force myself to watch E5 of Vigil. The whole thing gets worse and now I simply can't force myself to watch the final E6 - it's just too bad IMO. I don't want to know how it turns out.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

As far as daft UK cop shows go it wasn't any worse than "Bodyguard" or "Line of Duty" but you pays your money and takes your choice.

It's called suspension of disbelief for a reason. 😀

There are worse ways to spend an evening (i.e. TV3).

It wasn't a battle. It was a planetary bombardment as undeserved punishment to demonstrate that the Emperor is a wrong 'un.

The North Water on BBC - a dark and gritty historical drama mini-series of five episodes - very good IMO. Starring Colin Farrell and Stephen Graham, with Tom Courtenay.

Set mainly in the Arctic, IMDB says this is the most northerly latitude that a TV series has ever been filmed.

The fluffy seals getting shot in the face didn't really sit well with the missus.

Didn't get past the first episode.

The other one set in the Artic, "The Terror", about a doomed Royal Navy expedition to find the North West Passage with a bonus demonic polar bear monster was much more fun!

I literally watched the first episode fully on the basis that "it has that guy from Line of Duty in it so it must be good"... the promo's worked on me for sure.

Trying to avoid spoilers - but I will say that the scenes he was in were pretty good and leave it at that. The rest of the series, and the overall plot, not so much - but if it's a choice between this and another reality show, I'd watch this every time.

Squid Game on Netflix. One episode left and highly recommended. Dark, moving and beautifully designed. 9/10 thus far.

Current Watching "The Cleaner" c/o BBC iPlayer

We started watching 'the cleaner' - Love Greg Davies. Its a bit slower and less laugh out loud than other stuff he has done - but its still good.

He is usually funniest with an ensemble cast to play against.

Each episode is pretty much a 'two hander' - ie only 2 real characters and dialogue - which is actually a pretty difficult situation to sustain.

Out of curiosity I found the original German series that it is based on - "Crime scene cleaner' or 'Der Tatortreiniger'. Its actually pretty good as well.

Just finished "The Cleaner" and loved it. I really hope there is a renewal. Some of the episodes are just beautiful.

Yep, watching it with our 13-year-old - well, we were up-to-date with episodes but have taken a pause to do a binge on all the Bourne movies, waiting to build up a few of the Only Murders to watch together (as mentioned previously, not used to this weekly drop anymore!). Enjoyable entertainment. Like you, still really enjoying Reservation Dogs.

When I first took out an annual Disney + sub in Feb (to lock in that lower price before they launched Star) I thought it unlikely I'd renew when the year was up, but now I'm not so sure... It would be the second cab off the rank for me, after Netflix and before the other SVOD services we're currently getting free (Prime and Apple TV+) - there's been a decent amount of decent quality stuff to watch this year, especially family stuff like Mando and Loki, plus always some classic movies to watch on Star.

My wife and I talked about this the other day.

For me it depends on the premise and the situation. I can do it when watching something like Squid Game (which I'm really enjoying) but the idea a state of the art, 3.5 billion pound nuclear submarine would surface right in front of a tanker in the middle of the North Sea is not something I can suspend.
