Tinshed: Equally of interest as the hardware, is the software, especially on your phone. For example, you could load the following apps
- Alarm Clock
- Offline Maps
- Radio app
- Skype with 10 Euro credit for local/home calls with WiFi
- TripAdvisor with offline maps and saved locations
- Google Translate
- Weather app
- Itinerary app - there are a few that automatically read/load travel agent itineraries.
- Cloud file access/syncing, e.g. DropBox
I had six weeks in Europe last year and only took my iPhone 5s. Did everything I needed, including take photos. Your camera will take much better photos of course, but I found syncing my photos to DropBox every night when we had WiFi gave me a great feeling of comfort knowing my photos were backed up. I see the Samsung camera has wireless so perhaps that solves that problem.

gnfb: When I use to travel a fair bit OS I owned a decent pair of Bose Noise cancel headphones
I dont anymore and I was thinking of getting a pair.
$477
Hmm.... S/H on TM between $300 and $450
I wonder if anyone operates a guaranteed buy back or even a rental scheme?
Mind you a pair bough s/h on tm you may only loose $20-$50 on the resale?
gnfb:Paul1977: Are you a big reader? If so I'd consider a Kindle, much nicer to read a book from than a phone or tablet.
I am lazy these days and dont read many books mostly audio Luv My Audible! Unless you go for a Kindle "tablet" I dont think you can store and play audio on them ?
