NZ Post are in the process of changing around their courier and postal service. The posties are switching from bikes to little electric vehicles, and once they do, they will be delivering courier packages as well as normal mail. This means less courier vans on the road covering larger areas.

There can't be any money in the game or someone (Company) would actually provide the service we expect and win everyone's business at the expense of the cowboys we currently experience.
You might be right there. But you would think with NZ post reducing the snail mail delivery to only 3 days week, effectively forcing us to use a courier for anything we want delivered quicker than 4 days, that they could provide a decent service.

Its because of the way the drivers are incented.

That's great. I just hope it leads to a reduction in their greenhouse gas emissions and nothing else...
A slightly different, but related issue is Courier Post's lack of enforcement of its own standards. We have a rural address and for us there is no difference between NZ Post and Courier Post. The same person delivers both, in the same way. He won't come up to the house, which is on a hill some distance from the mail box. He is authorised to accept signed packages for us. One consequence of this is that he left my new Dutch passport in the open mailbox all day, in that nice, inviting, courier post package that screams 'something valuable here' to everyone who passes by. Fortunately nothing happened to it but that is one item I would have preferred to collect in town. Replacing it would have been very, very difficult.

I had problems with the Courierpost service a couple of times. It looks like they bang the door 7.30 in the morning and rush back to their cars. They can't wait a few seconds until you reach the door.
It's just your driver and your area I'm afraid. We swear by CourierPost as the PBT driver is hopeless. PBT used to be awesome though, but we had to switch due to problems.
Your experience will always vary from area to area. PBT are fantastic up north. They never miss a beat, but somehow not so great in West Auckland for whatever reason.

That's what I thought as previous drivers have had a better (and worse) record ![]()
On another note - the package in question arrived. Was with our usual driver, which was a disappointing surprise.
Hopeless in my area too.

I have found since the change from things coming in a van to coming on the electric little postie thing that they have no clue where to leave things, the authority to leave instructions appear to mean nothing and they will just put stuff on the ground or ontop of random things outside instead of in the plastic box specifically put there for parcels and groceries to be left in.

I've had a Courier Post courier driver fired over delivery of sig required items being left at the door and the sig being falsified while we were out was several hundred dollars worth of text books they'd also left parcels in the letter box that required a sig and no sig had been collected, also had them leave a CTC while I watched them do it from my front door
luckily for me the depot is just down the road from where I live so I went and had a word with their manager and told him if he didn't take the fraud serious maybe the police would next delivery and it was someone else who by the way has so far done an excellent job
I would say it depends on your area, my courier is awesome. I would guess that maybe if you are in Auckland courier drivers are always busy up there especially at this time of year and don;t have time to sit and wait for people to answer the door considering most are working over 14 hour days.
Its not ideal customer service but I guess they are just trying to get things done ASAP. If you get parcels often why not setup an authority to leave with a secure drop off place.
