Funny. I'm not even a Green Party member. But you Kiwis seem to go crazy over wasps. 😁 I could understand that in the case of sandflies, spiders, and Giardia parasites. 😉

NO. They attack Beehives and destroy them. They also harm native bird chicks. They are an imported pest and our temperate climate means their nest are not controlled by frosts etc.

Normal ain't coming back, the crazy stays.

Hire a Mariachi Band. Tell them no matter what happens they must keep playing.

When they arrive, position them below the hive and instruct them to start playing. Then, set off a small firework next to the wasps.

Film what happens and upload it here.

No fireworks until November.

But someone here could probably make an AI video of that???

By "disappear" I meant dying in "winter"—not disappearing on their own, or at least in a less biologically active phase. Nothing works without the queen anyway—you have to catch her or starve her out. Nevertheless, you can also get rid of them mechanically.

During our summer school holidays, we were constantly swarmed by wasps. Now I hardly see any at all during the summer. Maybe they're all with you now? 😉

It depends on whether you're familiar with wildlife biology. It got too hot for these wasps because the queen didn't know beforehand that it would get too hot under that type of roof. Since she'll only survive the winter alone anyway, I would seal the hole if she's hibernating there.

Of course, as a human, you'd have to be able to handle that psychologically, but that's not the wasps' fault. 😁 Perhaps it's also because I grew up with swarms of honeybees, so I'm not prone to panicking, and I've even had to deal with hornets 50 cm from my head (though that was on a cool night when they were inactive but audible in the nest).

Sure, you can kill anything with chemical pesticides. That saves you the trouble of thinking. And I'm not allergic, although, as everyone knows, seven hornet stings are supposed to kill a horse.

they don't. they are not german or common wasp which build big nests and live there for a long time.

go look at a aisian wasp nest sometime, they are small. you often see dead ones around.

hornets attack beehives, asain wasps do nothing, absolutely zero.

you guys need to go outside a bit more and understand nature.

i would keep away and wait a bit. i would not like to see you go spray them again and get stung. they are generally not aggressive, but if they keep flying out across where you walk etc then you will need to get an exterminator or someone keen to get up there and spray through a straw up into the gaps.

they are one of the most docile wasps we have, so don't worry to much. if it was common wasp that would be bad, if it was german wasp then panic.
