To me it is a demographic issue, this is why the survey is inherently inaccurate. The survey may be accurate, but its implication is faulty, in that an IE user = lower IQ.

Take IE6, = old PC = non PC literate user = the general public that is also not that interested in computing. So you have a wide gamut of the population.

Take Opera, new, modern, not the standard browser, so its adopted by computer literate and computer interested people. This far narrower demographic will have a higher average IQ.

eg, rabobank NZ do not support internet banking via chrome (why????)

Why dont you use IE?

I use IE as it is compatible. More to the point, I don't use a browser that has compatibility issues.

I am wondering how long it will be before I read "I don't use IE because I hate Microsoft"

One time after fixing a locals pc apart from their IE swamped in tool bars and what nots the mother rang up a few days later, thanking me for the game I put on for her son. But we have one problem everytime he clicks on the icon it loads up to the internet, how do we get the game running? What game I never install a game on your pc? Oh you know the one with the icon that looks like a planet with fire going round it. That ain't a game that's Firefox its a browser like IE!

IE is slower than chrome.

It is rare to find incompatible websites with chrome. When I do, i just switch to the yawningly slow IE.

I can tell you nothing out there performs anywhere like Chrome. We are developing an application which is massively demanding on browsers (IE massive lag if your system isn't up to spec.) and IE9 falls to its knees. FF is OK but Chrome wins on performance hands down.

IE9 also has limited CSS3 support.

Chrome is fast, but not 100% compatible, thats ok. Use another browser when you need to I guess

"That Internet Explorer IQ test was a hoax"

AptiQuant, the fake research company that posted this bizarre study,admits it was indeed a hoax, calling it a “lighthearted joke” that got out of hand. In a follow-up post, they also have some unsparing criticisms for the sloppy journalists that fell for this gag: Tell-Tale signs that should have uncovered the hoax in less than 5 minutes!

The list notes that the press release had a phony address and that the phone number listed as a press contact is also listed on the site owner’s other properties, including the shopping site (AtCheap.com) that it was designed to promote, and which is linked in the site’s footer.

ROFL - Thats hilarious. I wonder how many updated their browser because of the "study"... I betcha more than a few reconsidered updating at least.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
