Dark Matter S01-03. Has potential, so far I like it. 7/10

Killjoys S01-02. I like this one too. 8/10

Mr Robot S01-02. Good, seems fairly realistic compared to standard TV/Movie hacker stuff, and the story line is pretty interesting. 9/10

Just finished the first season of Sense8
Pretty cool and different / edgy / new age.
Quite character driven, so nowhere hear as fast paced action as the trailers might suggest.

If you like Homeland then take a look at American Odyssey - excellent series, available on Hulu or elsewhere.

Currently watching:

Orphan Black, Season 1. Watched the first 5 eps, it's pretty good. A bit of sci-fi, drama and action. 7/10.

Also watching Better Call Saul. Tbh, found it hard to get into after Breaking Bad but it's ok, I'm warming to it. 7/10.

And re-watching the IT-Crowd, such a classic. 8/10

Started watching 'Humans' (Channel 4 - UK) - Excellent sci-fi - but not overheavy on the sci-fi if you know what I mean. More focused on the drama side of things. Looking really promising so far and great cast.
Preview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU4mwlTUXnc

Man Down - Also channel 4. First series had the late great Rik Mayall. Second series (just finished screening) is just as funny though.
First comedy for a while that actually makes me burst out laughing. Oddly Greg Davies (man character and writer) has very similar mannerisms to Rik Mayall. Something he said he was unaware of - see little interview with Greg Davies talking about Rik https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjaExSMgU7A Channel 4 preview of the first series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNxI1iCihk8

Nothing is impossible for the man who doesn't have to do it himself - A. H. Weiler

I've recently watched first two episodes of Black Mirror.  Heard really good things about this, and as I enjoyed anthology shows like The Outer Limits I was expecting to enjoy this show too.  The writing and concepts are definitely good, with a sprinkling of futuristic "sci-fi" rather than dousing it in the stuff.  I read somewhere that it was the present, slightly tweaked into the future.  While I did enjoy both these episiodes, I have to qualify the use of the word "enjoy."  The first episode, about a terrorist threat made against the British PM after a popular royal is abducted, where the PM is forced to have sex with a pig on live TV to get the royal released, was outright disturbing.  It started out very simply, even funny in parts, but as the reality of the threat sinks in, and it moves towards the inevitable conclusion, the full horror of what the show's message becomes clearer.  It's disturbing not because I'm a sensitive flower, but because the satire/commentary on the state of modern life is so laser precise, it's unnerving.

The second episode wasn't as disturbing, but was more depressing and glum - but again, in a "good" way, by holding up the titular mirror to our warped society. It revolves around a future society where people pedal bikes to earn merit points, which they can spend on things, or use their points to gain entry to a reality show called Hot Shot.  It's an obvious dig at shows like X Factor, and society's fascination with humiliation and fame.  But while the twist is less disturbing than the first episode, it was more depressing and dispiriting.

That would be my only criticism of the show, and it's a mild one at that.  Whereas shows like Outer Limits and Twilight Zone used a similar format and themes, I found their conclusions to be more sinister or clever, or occasionally hopeful.  There were certainly depressing and disturbing episodes as well, but I find myself having to be in the right frame of mind to watch Black Mirror, for fear of sending myself in a spiral of depression, a precaution I don't have to take with other shows.  That being said, it's still a show worth watching.

I'm most of the way through Season 1 of The Sandbaggers - a 1970s spy series that I literally haven't seen for decades. Quite a bit less action oriented and more cerebral than most of what we seem to get now and, even though the video quality is quite poor, I'm really enjoying it.

Auf Wiedersehen, Pet

Vague memories of parents watching this, series two is one sky, while series one is partially on youtube.
Quietly paced, interesting characters, where nothing too much happens, but I find myself watching with a relaxed smile on my face and glass of wine winding down late at night.

A.

I'm actually enjoying Happyish on SOHO.

I was a bit unimpressed at the beginning but it's grown on me and I find myself relating to Tom & Lee's angst in the face of the lunatic modern world all too closely!

redmouse: Peter Kay's Car Share on iPlayer, I'd been eyeing it with some suspicion for a while but it turned out to be very funny. And Moone Boy season 3, also jolly good.

Yes I have caught a couple of episodes of Car Share and laughed a lot. I used to love Phoenix Nights. Hilarious.

Moone Boy has an odd charm about it too.

Game of Thrones Season 3: The Rains of Castamere... AKA The Red Wedding.

Thought I was ready for this (having read all the books long before giving the TV series a chance) but it was still bloody traumatic. I'm glad I don't remember my dreams because I've a feeling they're going to be pretty grim tonight.

Seriously? It wasn't that bad - and the book is worse I thought.

It will be fun when the undead Catelyn Stark turns up later on, though.
