PhantomNVD: People who announce the availability of a product or service they are offering but expect email or PM messaging to find out the price. Are we being charged differently according to who asks?

Thats just the norm for NZ businesses - make people work hard to find out the price. I CBF really with doing work to find out what something will cost.

I don’t want to abuse this thread but I am in a difficult position. My small annoyance is a Geekzone user who offered to try to fix a car remote for me. I had two, both non-functioning. I sent him the remotes with thanks. After hearing nothing back, I checked he had received them and he said he had.

After that another silence for two weeks. I wrote to ask if there was any progress. He said they were unfixable so I thanked him again for his effort and asked him to return them. He said he would within a few days.

Another couple weeks with no result. I wrote another follow-up. Although more weeks have passed, and the user has been on Geekzone in that time, I can see that my last message has not been read. Needless to say, I have also not received the remotes back. There has been no word from this person whatsoever.

I have placed a stalk on the user so I know when he posts anything. I know he has logged in and seen that my message is waiting for him. I tried replying to a couple of his recent posts and flagging his name for user mention but no response. I can only conclude he is trying to avoid me.

I would like to have my remotes back. They have value to me. Otherwise I would like to know why they cannot be returned. I find it annoying that this user will not communicate. His behaviour seems somewhat cowardly, and below the standard of most people here. I have to assume he is just hoping I will eventually give up and go away.

Am I violating the FUG or being unreasonable if I mention his name? I don’t want to trash anyone here, but maybe other users should be warned that this person is not someone they might want to have dealings with. I will give him a final chance to respond to me by PM. If he shows up on GZ again and still hasn’t communicated with me, I will then publish his name here unless a mod tells me not to.

I actually have his physical address from when I mailed the remotes but I don't have his email, only the Geekzone PM. I don't think it matters much any more. For whatever reason he clearly isn't going to get in touch.

Large companies that won't publish the prices of their product on their website. Energy companies seem to be the worst for this. Every now and then I have to phone up all of the LPG companies just to get their prices. So I can check if Im still getting the best deal on 45KG LPG bottles.

Also annoying that there is no price comparison website for LPG. Yet there are lots of price comparison websites for power and internet.

Number of power cuts in the past 4 weeks spent in the developing nations of Vietnam and Cambodia: zero.

Number of power cuts in first 4 days back in New Zealand: 4, totalling 3 hours.

Vote Compass on TVNZ. The section where you rate leaders by using a slider does not work with my phone. I got just one slider to move. Too many websites seem work poorly on a phone.
