Scammers sending me friend requests on Facebook. They are all either hookers looking for clients, or scammers just posing as hookers trying to get you to click on dirty links. At one point I was getting 6 of them per day. At first I just clicked report on all of them, Now most of those profiles get deleted by Facebook faster than I can report them.

All the spelling and formatting errors I keep finding in Kindle books.
Why are there so many? Printed copies don't have them and they are produced from electronic files. Why do Kindle electronic files have them?

One I'm reading has a character called Failend. It's produced all through the book as Failed at least 90%of the time.

Kindle has a lot of self-published books. Many do not have editors or proofreaders. It's rare to have a printed book without an editor or proofreader.

Something that is really starting to annoy me is the Geekzone automated censor. I like the fact that the tone of most posts here is fairly high, and we are not constantly barraged with four-letter expletives, but there is such a thing as a happy median and Geekzone's overactive nanny badly needs a shag from Peter Reader. Can't we dial it down just a little bit?

There are very small number of words in there. I didn't think it would be a problem. I can list the words here:

"f u c k","f**k","fuck","cunt","shit","wanker","whore","asshole"

Reality is that if you feel the need to use "cunt" or "wanker" in a post then you shouldn't be here.

Unless you're referring to someone who really is a cint or winker...

Actually the two last words in the list are the ones I have run up against recently. I do not feel a desperate need to use any of the others, though there are times when one of them might be appropriate. The C word I never use and wouldn't want to. The second to last was in a joke I quoted and was actually important for the sake of the joke. The last I tried to use today as part of the term 'media wh0re', which I felt was a justifiable use, though of course that could be argued. It isn't like I feel a Tourette's compulsion to use this language all the time, I just seem to keep picking one of the few words that stops things. Anyway, it is good to know which ones trigger the nanny.

I moved to chch from Auckland and the people I work with seem to have a strong hate for Auckland with no valid or real reason why, All I get is "aaah it's full of yuppies who drive big fancy 4WD's and drink fancy coffee with their designer dogs and look down on the rest of the country" ok you described a populous of people from a few suburbs, the rest of Auckland is just like you.

Is it small town syndrome?

Being asked if I want to donate to a charity at the Countdown supermarket checkout.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Solved that one - Changed supermarket brand. (That wasn't the only reason for changing, but it annoyed me too!)

I have been hit by this more than once. The charities are okay, just not the collectors who keep much of the money for themselves. If I give to a charity, it is for the charity, not some paid professional who makes a living from the donations of others. I find this trend particularly disgusting.

I'm talking about the checkout - not at the door. I doubt the checkout operator is keeping the money.

If Countdown think a charity is worthy enough to require their operators to ask customers, why don't Countdown just cease and desist and donate from their corporate profit. Unless the checkout operator is doing it off his/her own bat - which is even worse.

^^^ The chuggers (charity muggers) milling around wanting you to sign up to monthly direct debits bug the hell out of me.

Sure, I'd love to give my full name, address, phone number, DoB and personal banking details out to a complete stranger.

Sons of prostitutes! tongue-out

Okay I thought you were talking about the collectors at the door. I haven't had them ask me for money at the checkout yet. Didn't the Warehouse used to do that? I think that is also unacceptable.

No, it is true of quite a few cantabs. Probably more so at a business level .

Tons of projects get financed out of Auckland and I guess some resent this.
