What's your take on the NBR? I get a free subscription through work.

I have a Chch Press subscription however that's only because I need paper to light my fire in winter and I've got a cheap deal. I do pay for a New York Tiimes subscription which I do read.

Disclaimer: I have access to NBR Subscription Service as a courtesy. I think it could be worth but it's a business expense only really.

It's happening everywhere. Formerly good newspapers such as the Daily Telegraph and The Times in the UK do it as well.

They are also filled with drivel that would never have made print newspapers.

Not only do they have a paywall, they even have a pop up that complains you are using an ad blocker even if you are a subscriber...!

Instead of having one article about the lawyer's comments on United Airlines fiasco, the NZ Herald syndicates something and decides that one "article" for each different comment is acceptable.

Said pay rise will cost "the government" $500 million. Not the taxpayers then. That's good. Special government money that comes from somewhere other than tax. A magic tree perhaps?

On Thursday it was perfectly calm in Wellington. The fact there was no wind at all was the reason there was so much fog around. The reason there was a 50/50 chance of landing was because of the fog, not the wind that was delaying flights and causing a number of go-arounds and diverts.

This video was speed up and showed a perfectly normal landing in dead calm conditions.

You're probably right, but in their terms they should have agreed with them to allow them to change the article a bit for it to make more sense to NZ readers, or to stop them looking like idiots....

This doesn't even qualify as clickbait anymore. It is pure fabrication. Since when did it become acceptable for media in New Zealand to create false news? I find this really disturbing.

it is not false news, it is in the magazine section. That is a big difference.
