Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 8/10

Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill rallies his team to defend the universe and one of their own - a mission that could mean the end of the Guardians if not successful.

Yep - this is still a great franchise. 2½ hrs, very enjoyable and you can tell the actors were enjoying themselves making this.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

The Out-Laws on Netflix - barely rates 5/10. We we're actually trying to find the Adam Driver Dino flick "65" but it isn't on Netflix NZ,  so ended up watching this instead. Utterly silly premise, but fun to see Ellen Barkin back on screen. On the other hand Pierce Brosnan's Irish accent was truly dreadful.

Don't know if you're being funny about Pierce Brosnan's accent - but you do realise he is Irish?

You can hear more of his irish accent in the Jackie Chan flick - The Foreigner.

I'm quite aware of his origin. Doesn't change the fact that he's hamming up a pretty atrocious Irish accent.

The Outlaws . Netflix
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11274492

despite low imdb rating, its a good movie.
Fun, Action comedy .

I didnt get bored part way as I seem to with many movies
Pierce Brosnan & Ellen Barkin  showed the stars they are and made this movie.
The cemetry scene is epic

LOL, we recently watched a couple of more recent Gerard Butler movies, one of them was 'plane' (5/10) , and I commented to my son that for some reason Gerard Butler was trying to put on a Scottish accent in both these movies and failing miserably.

Luckily I was sitting down when I was informed GB actually is Scottish. Sounds like he has lived too long in the states , to my ears.

Same for PB's Irish accent (saw the outlaws recently too 5/10) .

Sean Connery never bothered with any accent no matter what nationality he was playing.

As an example at the end of Robin Hood- Prince of Thieves he turns up as King Richard with a broad Scottish accent.

Went to the movies last night and saw Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

I really, really enjoyed this. It's an Indiana Jones  movie. It is everything it says on the packet. It's action packed, it has the dreaded enemy of old, it has ancient curses, antiquities, tombs, skeletons and a few scenes where you really just have to suspend your belief system.

The opening scenes, where Indie is younger are brilliantly done. The action sequences are what you'd get from classic George Lucas/Steven Spielberg of the 1980's/90's.

I loved it. 10/10

LIFE (2017) 7/10 - 4K Ultra HD Disc

Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller

The six-member crew of an International Space Station is tasked with studying a sample from Mars that may be the first proof of extra-terrestrial life, which proves more intelligent than ever expected.

If you are looking for a laugh, this movie ain't for you. Very intense storyline, and some scary scenes, very much in the same ilk as the Alien series and starring Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal and Rebecca Ferguson.

I can't say much about it without spoilers, so, suffice to say, this one is for Sci-Fi/Horror fans only. It kept me from falling asleep, which has been happening too often lately, with the rubbish that I have been watching 😁

Enjoyable in a disturbing way.

Don't forgot Connery as the Egyptian from Spain, who lived in Japan, with the Scottish accent! (Highlander)

The Trial of the Chicago 7 - Always loved Aaron Sorkin's work and this was excellent. I can easily see why there was such Oscar buzz around the film.

We saw this last night on Netflix.

We knew nothing of the real true story but a gripping movie.

Star studded and very well done.

I watch The Flash in the weekend.

They had the problem of needing to make an unlikable character more likable, and their solution was to make an even more annoying duplicate of the character -  thus making the original more likable by contrast. I guess that's one approach.

The entire thing was a nonsensical mess that couldn't even be saved by the action because of how terrible the CGI was.

Let's face it, people only watched this to see Michael Keaton's Batman again. He was the only part even half watchable in the film, and even that was marred by having his Bruce Wayne explain the "true" nature of time travel, which he knows because "reasons" I guess? And the explanation of time travel reminded me of the famous Billy Madision quote:

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

2.5/10

Agree with this. Casting him as the flash was a horrible mistake. I don't like Robert Pattison as Batman either (Would have been better suited to the Joker). Ben Affleck is the best Batman IMO. I would have been interested to see Clooney in the darker version of Batman.
