@Handsomedan:
Mission Impossible: whatever it's called part 1
It wasn't awesome. It was OK at best.
It's like Jason Bourne books: he's misunderstood and powerful forces are onto him.
Same thing: Ethan Hunt is misunderstood by its own government, pretty much all movies.

Yip, its an useful film trope so that the "B story" is basically a copy of the "A story"
Most MI films,
- "A story" - trying to find XY or Z to stop the world being blown up by "big bad"
"B Story" avoiding own government/international spies who don't believe the A story, and think Mr Hunt is more dangerous than the "A story" bad guy....
End result Ethan Hunt is on the run from both A and B baddies...
I really enjoy the MI Movies, and I really enjoyed the original TV series too. Like a LOT of fiction, it requires suspension of disbelief for a bit, but that has it's benefits.
I mean, if you can't, there are dictionaries, encyclopaedias and documentaries for you :)
In The Heart Of The Sea - UHD Blu-ray - 8/10
Ron Howard directs and Chris Hemsworth stars in the story of the whaling ship Essex which formed the basis of Herman Melville's Moby Dick.
Typical Ron Howard gloss and Hemsworth is ideal as the ship's First Mate. This type of movie is what UHD Blu-ray was born for.
Bride & Prejudice - (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361411/)
7/10
Been wanting to see this for a long time, and an old friend lent me the DVD (yeah DVD).
Loved the blend of east meets west and a great fun watch for a Sunday night

And running,
There's lots of running in MI films
😜

Formulaic movie follows formula. Man bites dog, more news at 11.
I enjoyed it. It's fun and silly.

Yup, same.
I unlike supposedly many people, really rate Tom Cruise. He's the definition of Ethan Hunt. I even liked him in Jack Reacher. He obviously didn't match the Physical appearance, but did do a decent job of relaying the physical power of Reacher.
The Creator, saw at movies. Really enjoyed.
AI vs Humans. Some humans work with the AI’s. There is a platform in space under human control that is used to knock out AI locations when discovered. AI’s trying to knock out platform.
A little bit of a love story, and a on the run and try to survive type. Love some of the robots in it, like running grenade ones that have legs, travel a certain distance and explode. It’s been a pleasure to serve, and off they go to explode.
Reminded me of Blade Runner, Elysium, Battleship type ones.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) 4K Ultra HD Disc • Movie 9/10 • Dolby Vision 9/10 • Dolby Atmos 9/10 •
Uncover the past, protect the future: When a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.
I picked up the 4K Ultra HD SteelBook Edition at a clearance price from JB Hi-Fi NZ. I hadn't seen this film before; the 2016 offering put me right off the franchise, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good this is.
Happily, the film is a continuation of the 1984 and 1989 original films, set some 30 years later and is also used as a tribute to Harold Ramis of the original Ghostbusters crew. This time its a group of youngsters who discover long forgotten proton packs, along with the 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Sentinel; affectionately known as the Ghostbusters Ectomobile. I really enjoyed the film and I have read that filming has been completed on Ghostbusters 4 (real title not yet known), and is expected to hit cinemas late March 2024.
So, who ya gonna call...?

Ambulance - Netflix - 3/10
Jake Gyllenhaal stars in a bank robbery gone wrong movie.
Two hours of car chases and shoot outs can get really boring. Avoid.

Different people different tastes, I loved it, and didn’t get bored. 8/10
Ripley's Game - DVD - 6/10
John Malkovich stars as Patricia Highsmith's anti hero in an atmospheric but slowish thriller. Made in 2002 it shows it's age.
Into The Forest - DVD - 6/10
Elliot Page (Inception) stars in a movie that depicts what happens to 2 sisters living in the Canadian woods with their father when the electricity grid fails, apparently permanently.
It's interesting enough to make you want to see the outcome.
