I was going to watch it when it ran on Sunday.

Having read the reviews in the UK press, I doubt that I will bother. I will, however, try to watch Grand Tour when it launches.

It sounds like (as already indicated by the US and Aussie versions), much of the entertainment value of the show was in the individual presenters and their chemistry/ability rather than the nature/format of the show.

I think the BBC may well have trashed the value of its biggest earning production.

Saw the first episode on Prime last night. Chris Evans was cringingly awful.

Matt Le Blanc however was outstanding. His delivery and timing was perfect, his jokes funny. They should sack Evans immediately and have Le Blanc and Sabine whats her name present the show.

The Dodge vs Vette Top Gun section was boring, the 3 wheeler sketch started slowly but warmed up.

The 2 stars in a rally car doesn't work at all. They should revert to the old format.

Not sure I can poke up with Evans in every episode. Maybe I'll record them and skip over his sections.

I watched Extra Gear this morning. I totally see what others are saying about the two hosts of that show. They weren't suffering from the same "We need to emulate Clarkson & Co." that Chris Evans seems to be striving for, and as a result were a lot more watchable.

Like a lot of people, I enjoyed Top Gear for the presenters and the political incorrectness, not so much for the cars. I made a point of watching the new version last night so I could make an informed decision, but I did not have high expectations. It is a good thing I didn't, because even those were not met. I found the whole episode flat and lame. The chemistry that made it work before is gone. I won't bother seeing any others.

I haven't seen it yet but if it's the same xenophobic, racist rubbish I won't continue watching. If it's entertaining in an adult manner and concentrates on, let me think, that's right motor vehicles and " top gear" I will watch it.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Episode 2 was MUCH better. I still don't like some of the segments, but Chris Evans was much less awful to listen to, though still shouty. MLB is growing into this role nicely. The "event" tonight was actually quite enjoyable, though obviously it lacks the distinctive banter of the 3 musketeers.

Thye do need a full time 3rd presenter, someone nerdy with lots of technical car knowledge and history etc.

Definitely still too shouty Evans. It feels like they've re-recorded a lot of his voice-overs to stop him sounding so shouty.

It still lacks "personality".

I don't think I'm going to bother with recording it anymore... just "Extra Gear" (we get BBC Knowledge here in Oz that plays both on day of release).

I don't know, I'll give it a go, maybe when there's nothing else to do. What they need is not Chris Evans. He has no charisma. Only high pitched annoyance.

Watched E2 tonight, and consider it almost unwatchable, and I didn't get to the end. It was just boring and cringy. Evans doesn't help. He tweeted to all the 'top gear haters' that the show had managed more than 5 million viewers, bettering the old show. But the way I see it, these people aren't Top gear haters, they are haters of the new host. I think that the pouring of the disappointment, just shows how much people are fans of the Top gear brand, and don't like the way it is heading. The Extra gear show is just better. I wonder if it is the plan to bring the other two hosts across, and slowly phase Evans out (with a payout). I saw that Chris Harris is likely to be in either E3 or 4, which would back this up. I can only see LeBlanc lasting a couple of seasons at the most anyway. Not sure if he has a longer contract or not.

From today's Daily Telegraph:

"The BBC show, presented by Chris Evans, has fallen below 3 million viewers for its second episode of the new series.

It attracted just 2.8 million viewers on Sunday night, a 14 per cent share of the audience, losing more than a third, though peaked at 3.3 million (a 15.8 per cent share).

Last week's first episode drew an overnight audience of 4.3 million viewers, but had many more on catch-up services and on the BBC’s iPlayer.

Evans, who took over hostings duties from Jeremy Clarkson, had previously said that he would be “disappointed” if the show drew less than 5 million viewers.

Antiques Roadshow, which airs on BBC One at the same time, had almost double the Top Gear audience with a peak of 4.7 million."

Everyone opinions are different, but are you sure you watched the same show? I thought much it was garbage. The race picking up queens on the beach was hardly quality viewing!

The race between two pioneering off road vehicles was very interesting and entertaining for an old off reader as was the segment on the Ariel Nomad off reader.

The new track for the stars in a car was a very good idea.

Yes Chris Evans could do with some voice couching, a bit surprising given his radio back ground but at least he know cars and isn't a xenophobe or a racist.

Matt LeBlanc was very good especially his driving skills.
