You joke but family violence 8s no laughing matter.

I'm genuinely surprised and sorry to hear that another poster had a mother who would belt them around the head or resort to use the "jug cord".

I expect they weren't serious, or it doesn't belong in a "something small" thread.

You joked. You didn't express surprise or demonstrated worry about it.

If I'd asked my mother for a specific preparation of eggs I suspect she may have back handed me hard enough to have my head spin round in circles LOL

"What the hell do you think this is, a Hotel?!"

Ah well. Some of us were fortunate! 😇

The number of places having fathers day sales that have a tenuous or no likely connection to something your father would want to purchase or have purchased for him.

Since he is deceased for over 6 years, I am confident he requires nothing within my ability to give him!

I do get annoyed when my inbox starts assuming I have a father to buy things for, though.

Hallmark Holidays.  And the expectation that the only way to prove your love or whatever is to spend copious amounts of money on the person.

Totally agree - have said exactly this to our son over the years. I don’t want him to spend money on a Fathers Day present - so he’s coming to our place on Sunday and is bringing the ingredients etc and will cook dinner for me and his mother. Brilliant and I’m looking forward to it.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

It will be wonderful - he’s actually a very good cook (has inherited many of father’s talents 😁).

Why is it so damn difficult to get 2 Windows 10 computers not 2 metres apart to talk to each other ?

They don't speak the same language?

They aren't yelling loud enough?

They had a tiff?

You answered your own question... Windows.

I don't even bother trying anymore. It is actually easier to have different computers for different jobs. I looked at Apple and Linux, didn't like them for different reasons and decided to stick with what I know. The machines that talk to each other (no problem at all) are Win 7 and yes, I don't care that support for it is ending. It is still far, far better for my purposes than Win 10. But I do have Win 10 on my laptop for specific needs. Fortunately, communicating with other computers is not one of those.

Well a while ago these Win 10 machines wouldn't talk to each other, then I found that changing some settings in services.msc got them talking, then they stopped talking again and changing some settings for private networks got them talking. Then they stopped again. By talking I mean in Windows Explorer I could click on Network and it would show the other machine and i could wander round a bit. Now nothing shows under network. but then I discover while reading through another fix that I can just type something like \\othercomputername\driveletter into windows explorer and it shows up that way.

Crappy little bullies at my kids school .

So, there is now a rule, that if a kid brings the rugby ball to school, they get to decide who can and who can't play on the rugby field at lunchtime?    Other parents are also hopping mad at this little boy-Hitler!  Thankfully teachers are onto his antics now!

Bullies should be added to the list of life certainties, along with death and taxes.
