This one appeared on the front page of Newshub:

To save anyone the bother of looking, as they seem to randomly arrange how headlines appear, here's a link.

A TLDR of this story is:

Model had been told that John Key had a thing about playing with ponytails.

Model wore her hair out " I was just like, you know what, I'm gonna have my hair out today."

John Key didn't pull/play with her hair.

Model thought he was "very nice".

I think that's it. End of fascinating story.

Fred99:

The story also now mentions that they need a direct elevator to ICU.  I thought they had one, but perhaps the people doing the crowd-funding don't think it's "close enough".

The poor sausages. I had to take a ride in an ambulance after landing at Muddlemore.

"Wellington to create a 'pride precinct' with rainbow pedestrian crossing on Cuba St"

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/102128426/wellington-to-create-a-pride-precinct-with-rainbow-pedestrian-crossing-on-cuba-st

Now whatever your opinion on the subject,  checkout the accompanying image (presumably done by the council),

It would make the North Korean photoshoppers proud

as an exercise for 10 points you are invited to compare and contrast

Not on Stuff but couldn’t resist posting this little gem, from the banner on TV3’s morning show
( and apologies for chuckling at a serious subject )

“New York Helicopter crash kills all 5 on board, pilot survives”

Yesterday I saw one where the headline said that someone had died, but the article said that she was in hospital and they weren't sure whether she was going to make it.

Technically that is possible.  Many people have "died" one or more times on their way to hospital after some sort of critical event.
But not brilliant Englanding in the headline/artice.

frankv: Interesting factoid: How many people have died at Disneyland?

I believe the answer is "None", because the declaration of death is always made off the premises.

snopes

California death certificates have a field where "place of death" is recorded.  You could get a copy of the death certificate for US$21, but this weeks episode of "geekzone mythbusters" lacks the funds. A local newspaper article does however note that "Mrs Young was pronounced dead at the scene".

Ahhh... the urban legend I heard was that the answer was "None", because under California law, you aren't legally dead so long as CPR is underway. And (consequently?), Disneyland policy is that CPR be continued until the, uh, patient is off the premises. And the answer is supposedly *still* "none", despite someone having been decapitated in the "Pirates of the Caribbeean" ride. (No mention on whether this person was wearing a seatbelt or not). No mention of any decapitiations or Pirates of the Caribbeean in the Snopes article. :(

[edit] .... but Wikipedia does say that Dolly was decapitated on the Matterhorn Bobsled ride mentioned above.

Oh man, this one...

33-unit Auckland apartment opens - but not a single car park

Is just asking for legal and other troubles. The best part is, the 33 owners, will have to share two cars... Whoever came up with this had to have been dropped on their head as a child.

In Europe and US cities, an apartment without a car park is not unusual. If there's good public transport, it's workable. Of course, Auckland doesn't have good public transport.

Most of those cities were built for it, Auckland simply wasn't, which is sad. I have my high doubts it will ever work here, especially with 2 cars being shared among 33 apartments. However everyone on reddit seems to think this is going to solve all of the worlds problems, and everyone is going to get together at night in the apartment building, hold hands and sing kumbaya. I don't know why I read the NZ subreddit anymore to be honest, it can't be good for my health.
