You know you're old when you remember when hire purchase payback was in $$ per month rather than $$ per week.

You know you're old when you can remember when video rental stores were a relatively new novelty (and they rented out video tapes).
People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Stu: ..and you hired movies on Betamax tapes :-/
When you had a friend who bought a VHS top loader when they came out, at a paltry $3500, and spent $500 to upgrade the 5 mile remote CORD with a IR remote. Gross that back to the purchasing power of $4000 in those days. In fact I just will. RBNZ calculator, tells me that $4000 in say 1985 is equivalent to $11,038 in todays money.

Gosh, I can remember the old Noel Leemings store in Ashburton hiring out movies on VHS and BetaMAX tapes! I think they did that pre-video stores appearing.
