Walked into a standalone branch (Queen St) for the first time in what must be ten years the other week. Walked out after being confronted by the touchscreens, ticket numbers and no ~~milk~~shakes listed on their menu.

When did those kiosks come about? I was actually amazed at how different the stores function these days. Even the fitout was modern. I clearly live under a rock.

Shakes are on the touchscreen for sure.

You can still order at the counter if you want, you just cannot get the build your owns that way.

At BK you only have to mention the coupon, not present it. The local one has the coupon sheet right next to the register, for your perusal. In fact, once I ordered something without looking at the coupons, and was asked "do you want to use this coupon and get a free Whopper Jr?"

As for McD's, I noticed that the hash browns still say "good morning" on the sleeves

Why do that? Just a waste of paper and money printing it surely? Easier to simply make the normal prices the same as the coupon ones.

But then they wouldn't make money from the people who are unaware of the coupons

Just like the people who buy a cheeseburger combo at McDonald's when it's actually cheaper to get a double cheeseburger combo

I recently saw a 500g pack of Mainland Tasty was $8 or so and a 1000g pack was $11. A lady next to me put 4 500g packs in her trolley....I pointed out her error and she said "oh yeah"

Some people....

Maybe she's used to shopping at Pak n'Save, where pricing doesn't make any sense - or is perhaps designed to make money from people who don't read prices carefully. The larger "bulk" sizes are often worse value, e.g. a 200g pack of something I looked at recently was around 20% more than 2x100g packs of the exact same product (neither on sale), and with cleaning products it's usually cheaper to buy a whole new trigger bottle than in the "refill" bottle without the trigger.

For me, the Sausage & Egg Mcmuffin is the (admittedly low-ish) pinnacle of fast food breakfast offerings.

The Bacon & Egg McMuffin just can't compare.....

Yeah, its still meaning I have to set an alarm for 10:05 inorder to get dressed and go and get breakfast if I want to get a decent meal. Bit lame. Its also not all night too.

Agreed. I have been known to buy two and add the sausage and cheese from one to the other one!

Sure. Not every day by any means - or even every month - but from time to time.

Does not beat fried eggs, bacon, fried bread, baked beans, Cumberland sausage, Black Pudding, toast and tea though...!

There is a cafe in the UK that serves something called the "Kid's Breakfast". They call it this because it weighs 9lbs...!

12 rashers of bacon
12 sausages
Six eggs
Four black pudding slices
Four slices of bread and butter
Four slices of toast
Four slices of fried bread
Two hash browns
Eight-egg cheese and potato omelette
Saute potatoes
Mushrooms
Beans
Tomatoes

It contains 6,000 calories and costs $30.

If you eat it all (alone!) you get it free.

Damn, now THAT's a breakfast!

Would love the challenge of getting it free, but probably about 20 years late for that amount of food to fit in one meal 😳
