Some of our suppliers have been left high'n'dry by C1 owing them many thousands of dollars. They were a reasonable size business so this may have a negative run-on affect with any of their creditors/suppliers who may also be struggling at the moment. (I know some are)
If youve paid by credit card and not received your goods there is a good chance you can receive a refund from your credit card company. Those who paid by any other form will probably lose out sorry to say.
If its any consolation to any of you who have purchased items from C1 that have become faulty while still under warranty, we may be able handle the RMA process for you as long as we can find the original NZ distributor of the product. Just contact me (Mark) through here or via our website (www.pp.co.nz)
Cheers

People who have paid by credit card almost definately will be able to get their moeny back. I paid a company that went into liquidation, and they didn't provide the service I paid for, so I simply contacted my bank for a chargeback.
I could see that happening to C1, as I had had problems with them last year, and their serivce was terrible, and I had to get microsoft involved directly to get it resolved. I suspect many other computer stores will follow in C1s footsteps, but the ones that provide good customers support, such as pp and ascent should be able to withstand this deep recession.
I would recommend everyone pays by credit card, or via a escrow service such as safe trader, when buying any goods online, as you can't trust any company in todays economic climate. Paying by direct credit is just reckless,as it is basically giving someone cash that you don't know, before you have even received the goods.
I ordered multiple items from c1 3 or 4 times last year and the service was excellent apart from delivery taking a few days longer than expected but that's nothing.
If the reason they've gone out of business is the new website that's ridiculous - they stop processing orders for over a month while a new site is being built, but they still except orders through the live site, then the new site goes live and it sucks, they have a huge backlog of orders to process and they then they go out of business. Weird.
Sirrius: I lodged a charge back form last week with my bank but I'm unsure what my chances are as I paid from my credit card, but as a direct debit from online banking. I'm hoping this still counts as a credit card transaction in the banks eyes. Sadly however I feel it will be treated as a cash advance. Bye, bye $930.60 - we really need this money right now and my wife and I are just gutted. We had a laptop orderd for a friend and he feels real bad too, even offering to pay me half the money, but I just can't take it. If anybody out there can supply me with an Acer Emachine Eme520 for $930.60 delivered I would be happy - well my friend would be! - I'm still out of pocket!!
I guess I will try phoning the reciever today and see what my chances are along with everyone else.
Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.
