My minor annoyance of the week:

Went into the office yesterday as I had a customer meeting.

Left the house at 7am, got home at 6pm - 11hrs out of the house.

Got to work - lots of noise from people that are excited to be back in the office (a few people hadn't been back since lockdown). Distractions galore.

Meeting with client postponed, reasons given - understandable.

Reason for going into office - no longer needed.

Productivity level while in the office? 60% at best

Productivity level at home? 80-90% at least.

If I spent 11hrs working from home (which I regularly do), I'd achieve so much...yesterday felt like a wasted day.

Did you know that a clause in a tenancy agreement that requires a tenant to have the carpets professionally cleaned upon ending the tenancy is not legally enforceable?

Unenforceable clauses in tenancy agreements

I know that. I suspect the property manager knows that. She's not outright insisting that I have the carpets cleaned but she is trying, through a dance of words, to get me to agree that I will have the carpets cleaned nonetheless.

No amount of cleaning can fix this:

Annoyance/PSA: Edge crashing today when trying to enter a URL. Fortunately it's a known issue and can be worked around by turning off search suggestions.

Going into BNZ and asking to take out some cash. Nope you have to use the ATM in the branch. I want $245. Can't do that, have to get 240 or 250. Really wonder who comes up with these stupid 'BNZ, where the customer comes last' ideas. Obviously they're desperate to save money after only making $560m in the 6 months to March.

So you have to take out 250 and then walk over and do a $5 deposit? That's efficient.

From the bank's point of view, yes, because you have to pay for the teller services both times.

[edit] But you can take out $250 in cash, and ask for it be in 12 $20 notes, plus two $5 notes.

I didn't know you could get $5 notes from an ATM (anymore).

I have 'fee free' type accounts so I don't pay for tellers.

They want any cash-related activities removed from the branches, so they can "advise" customers...advise them how to get a home loan, advise them how to take out insurance, advise them how to get a credit card etc etc...

Anything that involves a non-advice activity is basically unavailable.

The price of Cheese.

Mainland Tasty 1Kg was available from PaknSav for around 13-14$, for 1kg, 17$ at Countdown etc.

Now only available in 700g blocks, for 50c less.( at P&S)

So from $14/kg, to $19.30/kg. Near on 40% price hike.

Looks like a supply and demand issue, from their FB page:

"When we started making this year’s batch of Tasty cheese around 18 months ago, we never anticipated a lockdown, in which we saw huge demand for the humble 1kg Tasty block. So when looking for your Mainland Tasty 1kg in the coming weeks you might notice a little sign that says we will be right back. Not to worry, we’re making sure that there is enough to go around in our smaller blocks, grated, and slices, so kiwis can still get their Tasty fix"

Yeah, mebbe.

The cheese level at the local P&S never went to zero - it was always well stocked. However, it could have been distributed to other stores to even out / restock their coolers.

Other brand tasty cheeses aren't. Just dont have the bite and the flavour for mac cheeses, cheese n 'matoe toasties, general chow downing, etc etc.

I eat a fair whack of cheese - I have no problems downing a small wheel of brie, etc., or a inch thick slice chunk of tasty in an evening.  or both if I can get away with it .. ...

The idiot (private number) who called me on my mobile number at 7:30 on a Friday night for a "survey" telling me "there's no reason to use language like that" when I gave a perfectly honest answer when he asked if I'd like to take part in a survey.

A: "No"
Q: "so... when would be a good time to call back?"
A: "never - never call me back again"
Q:"Tomorrow some time?"
A: "<expletive deleted>-off - take the hint"

"there's no reason to use language like that"

Oh yes there is - you <expletive deleted> moron.

Work rings from a private number, those calls need to be answered regardless of the hour.
