Ge0rge: Work rings from a private number, those calls need to be answered regardless of the hour.

Many "official" organisations use private numbers.  Some you really would want to pick up if they call.

I would still tell them to sort their phone system out. Also I assume you are compensated for the oncall nature and that work is providing the phone that they call on if you are wage/salary earning.

The only time I drop call blocking is when I need a voice 2 factor from google since those seem to sporadically have private number on them instead of their actual one.

Mice. I'm getting at least one a day in the trap. I seem to have an inexhaustible supply in the water heater cupboard.

Forced game updates. I just wanted to sit down and play an hour of Red Dead 2. It, however, has decided it must update itself first, even though I only want to play offline - 5.06Gb. I get 1.4 - 1.5Mb a sec Max on adsl so that's going to be an hour or so at least. Guess I won't be playing tonight.

Yeah that drive me nuts. I play Playstation extremely sporadically. Really only got one for lockdown and pass the time with a broken hip. But I did discover auto update in the settings as long as it's in rest mode. I'm not sure about other consoles/PC though. But I agree, turn it on for the first time in a month to play Gran Turismo for an hour...

Are you feeding your trap too much so it's less inclined to catch mice, since it knows there's always Whiskas available?

It will usually jam up because of a space issue I find, so I have to remove something to let it update and then decide if I put it back on the console or not.

I do have pretty quick net now, but I have gotten in the habit if I have an important gaming session coming up, of powering on my consoles at least 5 hours prior, if not the night before. Annoyingly, some games won't update till you put the disk in or run the game.

It's also important if you are taking your console on holiday if you don't have a decent internet connection.

Online businesses who can't do it right. Bought two boxes of macarons from a Wellington-based business. They used to have a cafe in the city and I stopped going there because the service was that bad.

This company's website says up to five days for delivery so I was hanging tight. After two weeks I emailed on a Tuesday and was told those would be "delivered this week". Saturday came and I was ready to start a credit card chargeback. I gave one last chance and emailed again - a couple of hours later someone knocked at the door with a bag (a private driver/owner?).

Then a week later another bag was delivered unexpectedly.

Today I found out about a different place, in the South Island making and distributing macarons, so I will try that next.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but if a company can't even get "here's your biccies, that'll be $6.50" right why would you expect them to get much more complex online shopping right?

Yes. I thought that perhaps they managed to streamline, make it better or something. No such luck.

People who feel it's ok to swear or otherwise abuse people who are doing their jobs when there are equally less crappy ways to deal with it, like, I don't know, hang up?

Federation referees that get paid to officiate but don't stay current with changes to the Laws of the Game.

Happy to be paid, love being officious (it's always these ones), but won't ever look at the Laws to see what updates there have been over the last few years.

As a ref myself, I stay current and even have the IFAB app on my phone for quick reference if needed.

I'm also happy to be proven wrong, as that is a learning experience.

These same refs are often the ones that make it about them and not the players...stop start games that don't flow and bleed all the enjoyment out of it.
