gzt: Elon Musk is sending engineers from The Boring Company and SpaceX. Ground penetrating radar, drilling and pumping expertise.
About time they got a rocket powered pump.
Something may be about to happen. Authorities are clearing out everyone 'not involved with the rescue'.

tdgeek: 18 divers gone in the get them, it’s underway
Got the Thairath TV live stream up and running here. They're saying the first of the boys is expected out at ~9pm local time - ~3am here.
The original idea was to let them wait until waters receded which may have been some months.
I guess experts have concluded the boys will drown or run out of oxygen.
Fingers crossed, this is so dangerous.

Oxygen pipe was installed so that is no longer an issue

Such an impossible call, weighing up the odds of surviving a few months until water recedes vs an immediate rescue.
And knowing once the monsoons have started you cannot change your decision. Then, imagine how terrible if they decided to wait and monsoon rain flooded the cave.
May the odds ever be in their favour!
I guess if you are the praying sort (or even if you aren't) now's as good as time as any!

I agree ……… and a 15 inch choke point where the tanks must come off and they need to swim upwards?
I'm not religious, but these boys are in my prayers / positive thoughts / wishes / whatever. A massive, massive task for all concerned.
a few days ago they said that the boys will not be fitted with any tanks
Four safe, nine to go.
Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
Of the 4km, they went underwater for 1km. Hopefully the rains that have now occurred can be compensated by pumping water out. Plus they are now in the good position of having hardcore real evidence of the rescue challenges, should they need to deal with more water.
