Might be time to employ Homing Pigeons for air delivery, but it'll just remind me of the first scene from Monty Python Holy Grail. "A 5 ounce bird could not carry a 1 pound coconut" ... "It could be carried by an African Swallow" ... "but then of course, African Swallows are non-migratory"

I've had a few items during lockdown, and for all of them tracking goes dark once it gets to the depot at point of origin until it is out for delivery. Had one parcel "stuck" in the Auckland depot for 5 days before it magically was out for delivery in CHCH

EDIT: After-thought, "Tracking" in NZ has typically been a scam anyway, so it doesn't bother me that much. If you compare how transparent tracking for international DHL is versus any of the domestic Couriers it's like night and day. All the lockdown has done is convert them from pretending to just not bothering.

Tracking of items is only possible if someone (and/or a machine) has scanned an item. So there aren't many touch points that would necessarily provide a tracking update. Not discrediting the 'stuck in location' claims, but there is also things that occur in between which aren't registered.

You're right - and that's the key difference between what the local couriers do versus the likes of DHL. Given all the status updates from the likes of DHL, they must be updating the parcel status when the container/lot is scanned at different points, not just when the individual parcel is scanned.

It's luck of the draw at the moment.
I had a package picked up in Auckland last Friday and it still hasn't arrived but tracking says it is out with the courier so should be here today.

Yet another package that was picked up in Auckland on Wednesday arrived here yesterday.

We're a rural delivery in Oamaru so things usually take at least 2 days to arrive from most places but generally 3 days, so not sure how that one made it here overnight? :)

I had an item from California (Shipito) that took four/five business days between being available for pickup in CA on a Monday to delivery in NZ (Wellington) on the Friday, which included it overnighting in SYD (and clearing Aus customs which I found somewhat confusing). Quite pleased given the lack of air freight options at present for them to put it on. DHL.

Had another item sent from Aus yesterday, is in AKL today having cleared Customs and expect delivery Monday. DHL also.

It took CourierPost a couple of days to collect the new toaster we ordered from JB, but once they did they delivered it I think in 2 days.

Me too actually. Not critical but I've given up checking the tracking.

I'm awaiting delivery of three separate parcels.

I have email updates set up on all of them. I received my first update today (after 2 weeks) for one of the parcels.

I just called to see what's happening with the redirection of my parcel (2 weeks and counting on Monday), "...our current wait time is...24...minutes..." <hangup>

We wanted to get two parcels from Auckland to Cambridge in time for Mother's Day. Contacted NZ Couriers at lunchtime on Tuesday, picked up from our house lunchtime Wednesday. Got a ring from Mum at morning tea time Thursday to thank us for the parcel. So it’s not all doom and gloom, or maybe the stars just aligned for us.....

I suspect NZ Couriers are doing a much better job of handling the current situation than Courier Post are.

Having contracted for NZP and Kiwibank, my view is that one can fully expect the former to use COVID-19 as an excuse for their own uselessness.

My beer arrived. It's all fresh-hop, which is to beer what Beaujolais is to wine (sort of).

Pretty close to three weeks since we ordered it ...

Yep I've heard that given as an excuse the last time I spoke to them.
