max 20% = fire sale?   Pffft.  Clearing stock and still can't compete.

There website has been updated here in NZ 20 - 40% off, Apple is only 5% however.

Might be good if you are in the market for a kindle i guess.

Way back, they used to sell processors.

Then recently, they started selling processors again,

but I guess very soon they won't be selling anything at all.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

I assume the sales will get better as all the large/desirable stock is sold.

If by better you mean bigger discounts then probably yes.

In the end though, cr*p might be cheaper but it will still be cr*p.

I popped into my local DS, as I was pssing and hadn't been in all year. Outside it was advertising 20-40% off everything, then 5% off apple. But inside nothing was stickered as on sale, so unless you take it up to the till you wouldn't know what was being discounted.  Pretty empty too, and the same old stuff they were selling prior to christmas, padded out with old cables and chargers. Those sorts of things will need to be $1 to clear them, and even then...

That's because the staff were told to take down all sale tags

I wonder if they should just close now and offer all stock up on auction. Sales promotion and marketing stuff like labels all cost money, without a long term gain what is the point in counting the pain.

Jaxson: There was no hope for the new owners...

Which new owners? The investment company that bought them off Woolworths?

They were the dodgy ones.

Yeah meaning the current ones, who came in after the investment company had stripped it bare.

That'd be the shareholders... Didn't they float it for $500 million?

Either way, lots of people got screwed.

I had a mate that was a manager from waaay back in the actual electronics days... Still there AFAIK.

Dunno what he'll do now.

Had a look at the web site.  Put a few things in my cart.  Thought 'nah' and closed the browser.

According to the news here in Oz, they have 8 weeks to sell everything.

Prices are pretty good.

I had a look at a few things yesterday. All are click & collect here.

The Nighthawk router I was looking at is $80 cheaper than JBs. And $45 cheaper than MSY, our local "pbtech" type place.

First (and last) time that's ever happened at DSE.

I would not purchase anything online from them.

According to pricespy the only item they are currently selling cheaper than anyone else is a Samsung Galaxy s5, which is an old model now, most of the rest of their stuff is ranked high up.
