freitasm:

When you visited the in-laws and they mention their Sony A1 Android TV is not connected to the Internet and nothing is streaming. Sure enough, connected to WiFi again - nothing. Plugged an ethernet cable - nothing.

Factory reset the TV and all connections start working again. But then you have to install app updates, install apps, login again (with a remote control, which is worse than typing a SMS using a T9 keyboard on a small feature phone) and so on...

An hour spent on this today.

The last month or so my Vodafone box has been getting flakey taking down all Internet access requiring a power cycle but my sony a1 refuses to reestablish connection either by ethernet or WiFi and I have to reset/reboot it but thankfully not factory reset...

When the supermarket moves stuff around.

Took me twice as long to shop today as had to double-back several times.

It's annoying enough at any time, but surely in a covid world, we need to be able to get in and out as quickly as possible.

And you keep getting the newbie that can’t find the vein, and the veins decide they’ve had enough and hide, and they then stick a drippy wet hot towel on your arm to entice the vein out again and it drips on to your clothes so you feel cold and wet.

A nurse told me to be sure and drink plenty before a blood test so the veins are pumped up.

Or it's done by Stevie Wonder, and you end up black and blue all over the place.

Keep warm, wear long pants and long sleeve shirt.
When tourniquet placed, hold your arm down below level of heart if laying down. Ie over the edge of the bed.

Really work your forearm muscles to maximise muscle activity which increases co2 H+ and acts as potent vasodilator. Dont rush to plunge needle in

DHL Non Express shipping.

Shipped from the USA on 7th October. Took 2 weeks to leave the US, and won't arrive here till 4th November apparently.

DHL today told me my parcel could go to as many as 8 countries before it gets here.

*Why* in the name of all that is holy?! *How* can that be cheaper.

I could have swum to the US and got it by now!

If they had been sold on Amazon I would have had it <7 days.

That's how international airfreight works. High priority (more expensive) freight gets on the plane first then the balance of capacity gets back filled with cheaper freight. There's capacity problems everywhere at the moment.

RPK (Revenue Per Kilometer) is king, especially in the current situation

I'm currently using an app that updates a file as soon as you open it, storing 'last opened time' and other ephemeral data, causing our version control system to think there are 'real' changes that should be checked in. Grr.

One of my pet peeves!

I'm like that with most shiny things...

Funny, I get that with all Apple things.

In fact it apples to most things that aren't woodworking tools or test equipment.
