And now the receivers apparently want to sell all our customer details to the highest bidder!   Grrrrrrr

Email privacy@dicksmith.co.nz, advise them that you do not consent for them to transfer your information and to request it be deleted. Failing to act on it would violate at least two subsections of the Privacy Act 1993 (most likely those related to correction of personal information, retaining longer than necessary, and transfer without consent).

That is interesting. I would suspect it wouldn't be worth much, because I don't think any company that did buy it, could use people email addresses, due to NZs anti spam laws. eg. You have to give a company consent first before they can email you. So a company buying those details from another, and not trading under the same name, I don't think would have gained that consent. Maybe someone with better knowledge on the anti spam laws may know for sure.

An update on NBR about the database sale (with a comment from myself at the bottom).

Sadly subscription paid article...but headline sound like logic has emerged

gzt, you're just recycling the original link that's on here a page earlier - see below. It doesn't tell us anything new like the NBR article.

I've noticed my 950 periodically reboots (once every few weeks) due to 'operator settings changes' or 'SIM settings changes' which is confusing to me. Do operators actually update settings that often or is it something else?

The four metre long closing down sale signs have been replaced with several 'Everything must go' signs. Also saw a sign saying that shop fittings were for sale.

Shame all the gaming display stuff has gone away from the stores. That would be awesome to buy. Not even sure if it is theirs to sell or if it is lent from sony/microsoft/that other one that noone has.

Geektastic: I'd say within 2 years they will be toast and a fading memory if they carry on as now.

I think you posted that on 17 April 2014 so your prediction and timing of the demise has turned out 100% accurate.

Those signs aren't cheap!  I wonder how many gift cards you could honor with that money.

Those are all supplier property unfortunately.
