For my last two parcels I have had a payment request from YouShop many hours before the FedEx tracking has notified me that the parcel has arrived.
Normally the other way around (parcel arrives and then the waiting for YouShop to process it and advise)

Am also looking for current promo codes - as I don't use Twitter I can't send my positive comments to get one

What I didn't get a clear picture of when choosing to send it through, was that the shipping cost from youshop was volume based.

volume "weight" takes precedence over actual weight

shipping smart phone, ssd etc is not bad

shipping shoes, pillows etc can be really bad

If it helps anyone to estimate, a pair of Doc Martin shoes (not boots) recently cost $41 delivery.

Obviously hard to guess with some items, with regards to their packaging size in advance.

The site makes a big deal on weight, but obviously volume is going to come into the equation also.

I'm waiting now to see if using them was a better choice than paying the known rate from my seller, - which was quite a bit for very fast shipping, when I was ok with it taking a longer time to arrive for a cheaper price.

I was really pleased with their service, I ended up paying a hell of a lot for an amazon parcel though, because Amazon doesn't seem to understand that not everyone wants a box that is double the size of their items.

They ended up repacking it for me, so I saved around $30, but they shouldn't have had to if Amazon packaged things intelligently.

I guess it guarantees safety, given a lot of volume around the item, but yeah I hear you.

The problem I can see with youshop is that often you simply don't know the final size of the item or items you purchase, both in weight and volume.

You've got the option (assuming the company will actually send to NZ) of going with a guaranteed price, but usually higher priced for a very fast delivery option, or to take a punt on youshop, with their slower but cheaper offering.
If the supplier won't ship outside of the US then you're rather limited in options from there!

At least there is now a pretty reliable and trusted company offering the option

As a result of not offering a true combined/consolidated parcel service and volume weight determining the cost of the parcel, there are a few places I wont order from that I want to, as they either pack items in whatever sized box they want to and/or ship items when ready and not all together.

Can't fault YouShops speed
I sent two parcels from the same store in the USA - one direct using USPS Priority Mail and the other USPS Priority Mail to Portland
Both were roughly the same size once I got them here in New Zealand, and the YouShop parcel arrived 3 days before the direct parcel AND saved me a few buck on postage costs.

FYI:

... use the promo code "ComeBack50" before 30 June 2014 when you login to pay the international postage and you will receive a 50% discount on your first parcel sent using YouShop USA or EU...

Not sure if it'll work for all users as was just emailed to me.

Just got two items from YouShop. One had been opened in the US but they had cut thru the packaging from Amazon on both sides. No damage to the item as it was a tablet cover but they only resealed one side. I was suprized that it was still inside when it was delivered and hadn't fallen out somewhere.. The other item way bigger from Ebay hadn't been touched.

Well my package arrived at youshop and I've just paid the postage to have it forwarded on to NZ. Used the FirstTime50 promotional code and it cut the shipping in half.

In my case I was shopping with a company that does ship from the USA to NZ directly. Their cheapest price was $50USD for a 2 - 3 day delivery and they offered other more expensive options from there.
I went free shipping inside the USA to youship and then I'll get it forwarded onto NZ from there.

As above, you really have no idea as to what size your parcel will be, and given the volumetric cost scheme factors weight AND volume, it's a hell of a gamble.

The total cost on my order came to $45 NZD, so around $39 USD, so a saving of $11USD but with a week or so + shipping delay.
I got this cut down to half, so $22.50 and this is the saving grace on this particular order.

Frankly without that, I think I'd prefer to use the original 3 day delivery direct from the supplier.
I think I'll stick to this where the cheapest option from the supplier is doable.
However, if your supplier won't ship direct to NZ then you've got little other choice, and at least youship offers you an option, albeit a gamble on total cost.
