amiga500: Just checking the HDMI prices & I overheard two customers actually looking for some type of HDMI cable!!
The same seven display laptops are still there. I don't think DSE Riccarton has sold a laptop in weeks, assuming they only have display ones left. They used to have more like 15 to 20 on display.
Because they are all crap.
Someone who bought a apple tv at dse last week also needed a HDMI cable. They staff said to get the 3 pack because with its discount it was the cheapest. Bizzare thing is that it actually was.
Staff seem to be taking it all ok.
TV behind counter has an ad displaying on it (must be a slide show of jpegs) "Manager's desk - $250"
Me to sales girl: "OOo a manager's desk I've always wanted one of those!"
Sales girl: *laughs* "It's a rip off, the new ones are cheaper across the road Warehouse Stationary"
Had a talk to her...she already had a job and keep getting people coming in offering them work...she was happy she could get a few more days out of DSE and just kinda take the piss and cash the cheques.
Can't be all bad for the staff. They won't have the managers obsessing about how many extended warranties that staff members are selling, other up selling targets, dust on the shelves, etc. Kind of end of term feel. If a new employer really wants a current DSE employee they might have to suck it up for a month while the person waits to get their redundancy. Maybe that boss or manager might have to put in a few more hours themselves while they wait for the new staff member to start.

With the Sony store now closed and the imminent disappearance of Dicky's from Featherston St., the big cheeses at Warehouse Group who decided to set up a Noel Leemings shop in central Wellington a year or so ago must still be celebrating now.
Yeah, it is a bit of a concern for competition though, in the IWIN (I want it now) market. But I guess they are still competing with online stores.
Only a short stone's throw from Noel Leeming in Featherston to JB on Willis, so expect each will keep each other honest on pricing.
Christmas trees and golden reindeer (with leds) 80% off. Looks like they are selling quite a few of those trees to canny early Xmas shoppers. Could be a good buy, after all there can't be much to go wrong with a Christmas tree.
Latest e-mail indicates upto 85% off now.
Some staff must be finding new jobs, I noted the Lyall Bay DSE had a sign up looking for a casual staff member
Checked out the local shop yesterday. Lots of empty shelves but what is left is still overpriced.
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos
I've been in a few times, picking up a few bits and pieces.
Got a Sandisk MicroSD card with a bit off. Twice actually, as I lost the first one down well inside the dash when I went to put it in the radio...![]()
General vibe is the place is a mess, stuff everywhere, with little nuggets becoming rarer to find.
The big price reduction adverts still have disclaimers for major items like TV's and obviously all apple products.
Check out my LPFM Radio Station at www.thecheese.co.nz - Now on iHeart Radio, TuneIn and Radio Garden
As per the usual std disclaimer.. "All thoughts typed here are my own."
DSE Queensgate are only using about half their floor space now, not a huge amount of stock left to move by the looks
