GV27:Yet almost all the Auckland MPs, Labour, National etc, were, and many including Councillors were either doing the same or on the ground in the affected areas. Actual leadership isn't just sitting back and being told things, it's being a visible presence and getting messages out to people who need them.
Yup. Friend of mine lives in a flooded area and his local former MP was going door to door, house to house checking up on people. And note that's "former", he wasn't doing it for the votes, he was doing it because that's what an effective leader/public servant/whatever does.
The mayor seems a bit like other notable populist politicians, great at complaining about everything and promising to drain the swamp before he gets elected but about as useful as a Trump during Covid when the ordure enters the air conditioning.
