Ground speed, not air speed though - so not actually faster than the speed of sound in air.

No, it most certainly did not reach supersonic speed (speed of sound). If you read my post a page or two earlier you'd know why it didn't.

It *will* "land".

Results may vary. Usability of said aircraft after "landing" may also be variable.

I was reading the Herald on my iPhone on Tuesday and I saw the Sky Tower glass floor story so started reading it.

Headline = Auckland Sky Tower glass floor shatters

Photo Caption = Auckland sky Tower glass floor cracks

1st paragraph = Auckland sky Tower glass floor shatters

2nd paragraph = Auckland sky Tower glass floor cracks

3rd paragraph = Auckland sky Tower glass floor shatters

4th paragraph = you get the picture.

All its other media portals also mixes the two words together and I even saw a couple; broken or it broke.

I thought shatter meant to break into small pieces and cracked meant facture but still hold together and broke meant separate into pieces.

Reading the story and viewing the photos I think a better verb would have been 'crazed'.

But who am I to take away sensationalism.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I suspect that quote is probably down to Trump and not the reporters.

This from the NZ Herald...

Trump added to the confusion Wednesday by suggesting that the decision to ground the plane was "psychologically" important but was neither urgent nor conclusive.

"We didn't have to make this decision today. We could have delayed it," he said Wednesday. "We maybe didn't have to make it at all. But I felt it was important both psychologically and in a lot of other ways."
