PolicyGuy:

"NZ's Security Intelligence Service is monitoring more Kiwis after terror attacks"

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/christchurch-shooting/111575551/nzs-security-intelligence-service-is-monitoring-more-kiwis

How is this news?
It was obvious to anyone with their IQ bigger than their shoe size that poor Andrew Little would have a pile of  Interception and Surveillance warrants to sign the Monday morning after the Christchurch mosque atrocities.

It's the opposite that would be actual news: imagine the furore if the headline was "NZSIS can't be bothered surveilling anyone extra despite the Christchurch mosque atrocities"

😡

I suppose you could ask why they were not signed a month before...

Also I seem to recall Labour complaining a while ago that too many people got surveilled - but I might be wrong.

This morning Newstalk ZB said that two Muslim chaplains now at Otago University would provide pastural services.

I’m sure they will be outstanding in their field.

'UK MPs fail to pick Brexit option' is Stuff's headline about the latest Brexit vote in the Commons.   While true & hardly dumb, what Stuff and many of the British papers gloss over, is the number of abstentions on some of the options.   The MPs are given a voting paper with all the options where they are invited to vote yes or no on as many as they wish.  So of course there are all sorts of strategic voting going on.

For once the Stuff comments are quite good.   Maybe their decision to scrap up and down votes has turned out to be positive!

Going to be interesting - best news topic on the TV right now!

The local paper has a piece about one of the "gas stations", because they're definitely called that in this country.

Headline: "How the average earner could save $1.5m in KiwiSaver"

Article: "A 45 year old earning $50K and saving 10 per cent in a growth fund could have around $342,000 while a person earning $100k could have around $598k if they saved 10 per cent in a growth fund. But a 25 year old earning $100k, saving 10 per cent in a growth fund could boost their pot to around $2.75m."

Yes, right... A 25 year old on a $100,000 salary. Sure.

Ticket master is offering new services. It seems they must have hired some mediums or the rapture is coming as thy are advertising 2019/2020 Chris Cornell concerts. For those who don't know - he suicided a couple of years back.

That's a constant annoyance in general. Ticket sites advertising events they know they don't have the sales rights for.

i wonder when it crosses the line from being an advert to an offer to sell and has legal standing? At some point it must breach the commerce act offering goods you know you dont have. Bait and switch?

"George Lucas Actually Consulted For The Script Of 'Star War: Episode IX'"

I suppose Star War is similar to Lord of the Ring, or The Avenger.
