We are keen to use Amazon Instant Video. I have Unblock-US set up and working fine and have entered US addresses etc on my Amazon account and changed my country location setting to US. However the final hurdle is that (unlike Netflix now) they require a US credit card even though my BNZ Visa works fine for ordinary Amazon purchases. 

Have tried the so-called fix of putting the Amazon account into credit by buying myself a gift card and then deleting credit card details - but that does not seem to work.

Has anyone found a solution for this?

I think you must use a VPN to access the Amazon service to use a "US account".

For example if you have a Kindle and use a non-VPN connection it will work - everyone travels right? But if ALL of your purchases are over a non-VPN account then Amazon will lock the account (and the Kindle). I only ever use Amazon over a VPN. While I do have some credits available (thanks to folks who use our Amazon order page to buy things, not only Kindle), I know that using two accounts worked: use the NZ one with a NZ card to buy yourself a gift card, then use a US one over a VPN to apply that gift card and use the balance.
