Random thoughts for a Friday.

I was going to buy a new phone and then thought how about a tablet instead?

I don't do many voice calls, mainly communicate via facebook or whatsapp.
As I spend up to 2 hours commuting per day on a bus, a tablet would be good for:

Games
Watching Movies
listening to music
surfing etc...

If I can do all this on a tablet then what do I need a phone for?
Screen size on a phone is just too small for some of those tasks - I intend to get a tablet anyway so why not just ditch the phone at the same time?

Obviously the size of a tablet is an issue for some - but I don't mind it...
Can you get a 3g plan for a tablet that includes voice?

So, buying a tablet instead of a phone - have you thought about this before or have you done this already?

Apart from the size and possibly lack of voice capability what other problems might there be with this idea?

Doing your best is much more important than being the best.

For me it wouldn't work for two reasons.

First, the times I want to make phone calls I really need to make phone calls. Calling a taxi or contacting people for who all I have is a phone number. I message a lot but voice is an immediate connection.

Second, is the size. Monday to Friday, nine to five I carry a bag so no big deal but there are times particularly when I'm not working that I want something that will go in a pocket.

I think this may work if you always carry a bag but I'd still suggest a tablet and the cheapest phone you can find as a back up. Redundancy is good and I had a 2G phone with a two week battery.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?
