Here is a question for the engineers amongst us. I have a UHF receiver rated at 8 watts of power consumption. The receiver uses passive ventilation and has slots in the top of the case to exhaust hot air.

I also have a cat. The cat possesses thick fur of intermediate length. The cat enjoys lying on top of the UHF receiver because of the heat it radiates. When the cat lies on the receiver, it completely blocks all of the upper ventilation slots.

My question is if the cat is capable of damaging the receiver by lying on it. Even better, can anyone calculate the likely temperature rise of internal components due to the presence of the cat, and what the probable time to component failure might be?
