bettyboop: Just wanting to find out what people think about the minimum wage raise, wont this make it harder for teenagers to get jobs, as employers dont have any incentive to hire young ones, which means the dole figures would go up.

Looking at the article, it would appear that most, if not all of those leaving for Australia would not benefit from a minimum wage increase.

And that's one of the issues with increasing minimum wages in big leaps. It either forces companies to annoy existing staff if they don't raise their wages, or if they do rise across the board it theoretically leads to increased inflationary pressures.
IMHO the minimum wage is anti competitive and no different to price fixing.
