Hi Folks,

I was wondering if anyone new the answer to this one....

I have a mate who is the process of finishing a house. He is zoned for UFB but it doesn't have a timeframe on when UFB will be available.

It would make sense for Chorus to lay some fibre to the house before he puts down his concrete driveway so they don't have to do it later.

Is this possible? Does Chorus do this? It would save Chorus a truckload of money to lay the fibre now in the new subdivsion he is in so they don't have to dig up the reasonably new concrete....

Cheers, Matt.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Orange is power. You need to use green for phone. If you don't have green cable Chorus won't even install copper!

I have a friend who, similarly, is soon to re-lay paving in his driveway in Papakowhai, Porirua. UFB (Chorus) is already in his street.

If he installs green conduit that will be OK, then? Depth about 600mm?

I suppose there are contractors around who do this sort of thing if he wants someone else to do it.

We almost need a sticky for this stuff..

Theres a code of practice for conduit etc that chorus will require to be in-place as said before they will work with you (home owners responsibility to get it ready)

Entirely up to the guy if he wants to put it in before requesting it, or they will just say 'do this' if they goto order it later on and will have to dig it up again etc.
