Worldnet are offering cheap gigabit UFB ($90/mo) and we're moving to a Chorus area at the end of the year. Assuming this is still on offer in December...

I don't know anyone on Worldnet. I've never heard if they're good or average or terrible. I know they've been around a long time.

Has anyone had any experiences with them - good, bad, adequate, inadequate? Is their call centre any good when things go wrong?

I was with Worldnet for a while on ADSL. This was a few years ago now, but they were excellent. I believe they are Korean (but NZ based), and offer Korean and Chinese language support. The front-line support people can have a bit of an accent, but their English is good and they do know their stuff and are able to put you through to the network engineers when needed. The network engineer I spoke to was Kiwi. The only reason I moved away from them was that, at the time, they did not support fibre connections in Palmerston North. These days, their biggest downside is the cost of a static IP address. Last time I looked that was $20 per month, which is way too much and rules out my going back to them. I also do not know if they do IPv6 - but I think that is likely now as they did seem to be keen to get all the technical things right.

You do get what you pay for. I've personally found Worldnet to be pretty "meh" in the ISP world.

Depending on who you're with for Mobile - 2degrees are currently offering $20/mo off (for 12mo) if you have an on-account mobile with them, they also provide $200 credit also. I, along with many others rate them pretty highly.

They're not (formerly) XNet are they? I was with XNet back in 2007 and found them pretty good - or are they separate, unrelated companies?

They're different companies. Xnet was a brand used by WorldxChange.

I am about to jump ship and join WorldNet next month. Fingers crossed. I was given the nudge by two colleagues who

are quite pleased with the service. At $70 per month for unlimited Fibre 100M with a VoIP line I am happy with the pricing.

Sorry ! Not much help for the OP who is asking as I haven't started using the service.

I've been with Worldnet since 2010 from ADSL to ADSL2 to VDSL now, they've always been excellent, I've had no issues at all over that entire period. I've only ever contacted support to change my plan when I want to upgrade.

I'm on unlimited and have never been throttled and my download and upload speeds are what they're meant to be, I can sit with my connection maxxed out all the time without any problems.

I wouldn't be too concerned about Worldnet the company, they seem very good.

Just changed over to Worldnet yesterday.

They sent their preconfigured router Tenda Ac6 (dual band) , free with a 12 month signup but you pay for postage.

Got a text from Enable that the service was connected and also an email from Worldnet that the service was ready.

Got home and plugged in my router and got connected without any hassles . Download speedtest on wireless is about 97Mb/s.

I am on the $70 plan that includes a VoIP phone line and unlimited fibre 120Mb/20Mb . $25 if you want to retain the old VoIP number which we did.

Pretty pleased with the outcome. Now I dont have to watch my download quota like a hawk and being selective in what I watch on Netflix.

I know this comment is gonna get a lot of flack but fibre is nothing new and most medium sized ISP's will do the job.

Most will give you the throughput you need Netflix, youtube etc due to caching servers, anything other than that this is where ISP's are set apart.

Worldnet has been around for a while I think you will be fine imo.
