TIFU

After a jump on the 17a upgrade of 3mb, in April

I panicked this morning after seeing what I thought was 13mb down and 6.1 up and 6dm snr, I believed my line had crashed

I rebooted the modem twice its at a remote site feed by ubiquiti gear, re punched the jack,

Rang 2 degrees who answered bloody near straight away, just as I ran a speed test in frustration,

and choked at the biggest numbers I have seen on my line, Apologised to the tech support once I realised what was going on.

I realised dlm had done its thing again

I have now got 61mb down and 13mb up sync up from an early april 48 / 10.

so found the change to 6dB interesting, Power levels for my VDSL connection have shot way down.

I would expect one of two things to come from this

a, on a resync a massive boost of speed

b, US0 is already almost maxed (which it is) and the DSLAM is simply telling the modem to cool down.

Impressive to see 9db -> 6dB is that much worth of power on my line though!

I too have dropped into 6db

83/32 to 92/44 I am not going to complain about that!

however sadly I still cant get anything more than 10Mbps up (apparently my BNG profile is empty?) anyone help with that? @sounddude seems to have gone AFK

could switch to somewhere that supports faster than 10mbit up on vdsl? maybe its a business decision?

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Simon seemed to think my line had no profile attached thus it was defaulting, last I heard 15 days ago he was going to find out how to change it...  but nothing since..

Ah okay, in that case maybe looking into why that happened?

These things can take time, and would not surprise me if VDSL upload speed isnt as high up the chain as other issues.

It has been 14 days since the last re-sync action from ddDLM. I thought that was it but ddDLM sprung into action again last night. ddDLM is increasing my Down stream sync speed slightly but it is trying to push up my UP stream sync speed significantly with a 5.5db profile on the Up stream. While I welcome the increase in both Down and Up stream speed, I got a feeling ddDLM is being a tad too agressive with the sync speeds.

Today my modem reset, was getting 53/9 now I'm getting 35/12 with the line stats looking like this:

Hopefully my download will increase with the days coming, currently on the 8b profile and only 250m from the cabinet

250m from the cabinet. You should be getting much better speed than 35/12. Suspect some kind of in house of outside wiring issues. Do you have a master splitter in the house?

ddDLM is decreasing your down stream sync speed significantly which is odd, perhaps wiring or interference issues. The up stream sync speed increase is expected as that seems to be the main benefits of ddDLM.

My VDSL connection got upgraded about 2 nights ago, went from 33Mbit Down & 7 Mbit up to 40 Mbit Down & 10Mbit up.

I'm wondering, should i change the VDSL profile on my modem (dsl n66u) from 30a multimode to 17a multimode (now that i'm on 17a instead of 8b)? or will that not change anything.
