techmeister: If cross talk is such a big issue with mixed annex A and M then why not make all connections standard
annex M, pretty much all ADSL2+ modems can do it.
The llu's can do it so it is possible.
The point is that the majority of people will not be getting fibre for a very long time and I will be probably last in the country no doubt lol.
If it costs Chorus some money so be it, I would even be willing to pay more for my broadband.
It just makes an ADSL2+ connection that much more useful, especially for VOIP and realtime comms.

You must be the only customer In the country that would be willing to pay more.

if you are willing to pay more, you could try speaking to compass.  i believe that they can offer bonded SHDSL over a pair of lines to give you something like 5/5, 10/10, or 20/20 speeds..

Not available due to "high" line attenuation.

Sorry about my English guys :>

Looks like you have no more options so arguing the point that isnt valid should be stopped.
You can't get ANNEX-M on chorus gear, Sounds like you cant get Fibre/VDSL and LLU's are not an option. Looks like you will have to stick to what you got or look at wireless options.

checked month ago: Not suitable due to low data caps.

Just another question: i have current line with Telecom, if i want to test compass ADSL (if they will enable annexM), is it possible to connect the second separate line?

Sorry about my English guys :>

Where is LLU cabinets located? Is it the same chorus cabinets?

Wireless is not an solution, checked twice: low data caps...

LLU stands for Local Loop unbundling. The local loop isnt a cabinet. The LLU gear is in the exchange and only runs off a MDF. Dude, I think we have all established you have no where to go apart from put up with it. Sorry but it seems that way. If you want provide your address and ill tell you everything possible for you to get. Thanks.

Regs: pretty sure chorus don't offer annex m service, there is nothing that says they have to - all their focus and capex is probably for VDSL/UFB.

why did you move off of slingshot?

are you able to get VDSL? - that would have better upload.

I moved from Slingshot because of there heavy traffic shaping, but for VOIP they were very good.
I guess I can always move back, just such a come down from Slingshot to Chorus and no VDSL is not an option for me.

Ha just noticed my sig that was what I had form Slingshot and now I have 10 Mbps down and 700 Kbps up.
Sucks!

What plan were you on with slingshot? Unlimited?  Did you try a different plan like the 80GB or 200GB plan instead?

Yeah, I tried the 250GB plan and I actually think it was worst!
I don't want to do with less data.

I can go back to Slingshot I am not on a contract so would no big deal.
I guess Chorus would allow it if it were viable and of course worth it for them.

You're not getting Annex M...
Wireless is your only solution, you said you're willing to pay extra so talk to a provider about paying extra for a bigger cap.

I said I would willing to pay a bit more, I am thinking SHDSL is not cheap but might be worth looking at.

How about an indication of how much extra you'd be prepared to pay for something like Annex M? I suspect perhaps that you're being a bit disingenuous by suggesting you're prepared to pay more.

If we assume a $10 premium from ADSL2+ to VDSL, and that gives (broadly) double the downstream and 10 times the upstream, but Annex M only gives the same downstream and maybe double the upstream - then are you thinking something like $1-$3 extra per month?

Because that's nothing.

As others have pointed out, Annex M isn't going to happen on Chorus gear. The reasons are a combination of economic and engineering and I'm not going into them in any depth.

You do have options, none of which are going to be within $5/month of a cheap consumer grade ADSL connection.

Cheers - N

Hi,

I checked his address and did a prequalification.
He can only get ADSL, He lives dead on the edge of the cabinetised area and MDF. No pairs from the cabinet. He is in Vodafone LLU area and if i did ANNEX-M it wouldnt even make a noticable difference, We could try but i wouldnt suspect anything of an increase (Not a VF customer anwyay)..
The ONLY option is wireless for a higher upload, no NGA (UFB) no VDSL.
